I read the recent review, and it's not accurate. He is not the owner, but he is connected to the owners. He is a very elderly man who was bothered by people sitting with laptops, and he happened to be there and commented on it. This should be seen for what it is — an elderly person making a remark, nothing more. The actual owners of the café are extremely kind, always helpful, and make sure customers are comfortable. The place has excellent service, a pleasant atmosphere, delicious food, and very fair prices. The owners themselves were not present at the time, but someone affiliated with them was there. He calmed the elderly man, even helped me with electricity, and apologized on his behalf. There’s no reason to boycott a place that genuinely works hard to make everyone happy, provides jobs, and supports the local economy. Just because of one incident involving an elderly person, it’s not worth dismissing the bigger picture. People — and especially older people — sometimes make comments. It’s nothing to get upset about. I promise you, if you come and meet the owners, they’ll tell you the same thing. I’ll definitely will keep coming. As regulars we should respect everyone. And when it’s come down to elderly, we should sometimes listen with our hearts and not just with our ears. Have a...

Proof that businesses can buy good reviews, I was misled.

The waiter, who not only was rude but honestly came across stoned because he not attended once without being quite initiative, didn’t offer any solution or gave out any form of excuse.

He just pointed to the good reviews online and I answered that’s why we only came and added even that we won’t give a good one for sure. Not even this notion triggered empathy in the waiter.

Retrospectively, as mentioned, this place is proof that the reviews are bought. He suggested to pay only one dish, after we mentioned that we don’t want to pay for this disgraceful experience.

As we just wanted to leave as soon as possible, we paid for the one dish and decided to just never come back again and warn others.

How is Local Public Health Department in Dublin not shutting down such places?

Please don’t go even drunk there, your putting your own...

I am a bit surprised to read so many enthusiastic reviews.

We had been in Basil many years ago and enjoyed it.

We thought to go there again for a quick bite, preferring it over another good option based on memory and reviews.

We found the place to have no clear identity.

There are at least 3 different styles of decorations. There is one room that is not clear if it's a warehouse or what. The bathroom is quite essential, so to say.

The pizza was not bad but it felt like something bought in a supermarket. The dough must have pressed with a machine losing all the charm and texture of being stretched by hand. The ingredients were not flavorsome (even if the buffalo mozzarella tasted like buffalo mozzarella, which is not to be taken for granted).

The drink options are very limited, with only 4 soft...

One of Dublin’s most underrated pizza places. Tasty food and we’ve always received quick and friendly service. Crust not quite as flavourful/chewy as our favourite pizzerias, but it’s great for takeaway and you’ll rarely have to queue as you need to for more crowded places in the city centre. Standard pizza options such as Quattro Formaggio, Pepperoni, Margharita, Capricciosa etc - nothing out of the ordinary but easy enough to find something that suits everyone if you’re in a group. You can take your pizza to Ringsend Park and Grand Canal square on sunny days to enjoy.
