I have very fond memories of this place, which prompted me to write a little review. I lived in Beggar’s Bush over 25 years ago and used frequent Slattery’s on a regular basis.
I loved sitting in the bar, either on my day off or on an early Saturday afternoon; looking out the window up the road, watching the world go by or chatting to the ‘auld fellas. It was usually raining (very Frank McCourt-esque!) and I’d sit there, ruminating about life in general.
It was always good fun on match days with a raucous but fun atmosphere, particularly if the rugby was on. I remember one time, some kilted Scottish fans decided to start blasting on the bagpipes. Those things are loud. But that’s rugby for you, the fans always get on and that day, the craic was ninety!
Now - and I totally understand why, the outdoor area blocks that view - it is an asset though , for the smokers.
Sat at the bar, the fonts are way too bright and dominate what you can or cannot see. The smell of drains is a bit omni-present. But, I still have a lot of grá for the place; the pint is decent, and I will come back - if nothing, for...

10:45pm finally catch someone who's clearing the glasses on the table beside us, certainly wasn't someone 'sent up to us'. Takes our order with a frustrated sigh.
11:15pm no drinks to be seen, same bartender comes up with plastic cups for everyone to takeaway. Complain again about our order being taken but nothing dropped down. Bartender walks away and says nothing.
Unbelievably frustrating and completely...

I walked away knowing it would be wasted breath to argue with him, fortunately a seat became available and we could watch the match, shortly after this I went to get a round of drinks which the bartender took, but the manager went out of his way to stop the order and told me I was not getting served because I asked him to change the channel. This is ridiculous that a manager of a bar would turn away business and be rude and vindictive to a customer turning away good business....
