I visited the Ferryman for the first time in December of 2023 and it was a pleasant surprise. As we were on our way back from the 3 Arena a friend recommended that we should grab a drink here and it was a brilliant decision.

Pint of Stout: While here we ordered a number of pints of Guinness. I was very impressed with the pint of Guinness here and would recommend ordering one if you are here.

The Staff: The staff were very friendly and attentive. The bar was kepth very clean even with the large crowds that were passing through the pub.

Layout: The pub is pretty big and it is split into a few areas with one of the areas being downstairs. The main bar counter is located at ground level along with a couple of snug like corners and a number of tables in the main floor. There is plenty of seating to choose from on this leve but on busy nights I can see this area being fairly full with a lot of people standing. On your way to the basement level there is a mid sub level floor area with a number of tables and seating as well. You will find "The Cellar Bar" when you reach the basement floor along with even more tables and seating to choose from. The bar counter here is smaller than above ground but it is fully stocked! Also, from what I could see the only toilets in the pub are located in the basement. The queue was pretty long for the ladies and the men's queue moved fairly fast.

Decor: The Ferryman has an old timey feel to it and the bar is decorated in such fashion. Timber panels line the walls and are either painted or varnished depending on the area you are in. Above the main bar on the ground floor there are mementos such as various American Police badges, various American Number Plates, sports memorabilia, etc.

Location: It is a little bit out of the way if you are in city centre but it is only a few minutes walk from the 3 Arena. The location is handy if you are on the way back from a concert.

Overall Opinion: I highly recommend stopping by the Ferryman pub for a pint and chat with friends especially if you are on your way back from...

Visit = pub only, not related to the hotel Location = solid

That's it. I came here per recommendation of locals and I shoulda just went elsewhere since the service here was horrible and the staff had no manners.

I knew it would be a bit challenging since the crowd was chaotic here but the bartender ignored me a bit even though I was waiting there for about 20 min for a drink and finally when the bartender got to me, the straight up asked me "what do you want (insert discriminatory p-word here)?"

I was like whoaaaaaaa, that's a bit off and told her my name is Adam, please call me that. She replied with "whatever (insert discriminatory p-word here)" and just walked away at that point.

I just left the pub at that point and took a look at the clientele, all white so I was not surprised.

I thought Ireland was friendly and I had a great time there but this pub was part of a handful of places that had given me some problems that seemed triggered simply due to my skin color.

Either way, not coming back and advise those who are minorities to avoid coming here. If you look like a local and are closeby, this seems like a great spot to enjoy a pint or two but alas, I was not given such a warm...

Wednesday 20th November

At approximately 11:00 PM, I ordered three pints from the upstairs bar and was served without issue. Around 11:17 PM, well before closing time and last call, I approached the same barman to order another round. Unfortunately, the barman responded by shouting at me, which was unexpected and unsettling. He told me they were closed. I didn't react which is unusual for me.

Following this, I went downstairs and was served impeccably by a young gentleman named Rian, who was very helpful. It's a pity the upstairs staff's service did not match the excellent standard set by Rian

I understand that staff may face challenges during busy periods, but such interactions can significantly impact the customer experience. I have always enjoyed the atmosphere at The Ferryman, and this incident was out of character with my previous visits.

I wanted to bring this to your attention, as I believe in the importance of constructive feedback. I hope this information is helpful and contributes to maintaining the welcoming environment that The Ferryman...

This is a great spot for pre theatre meet-up and beers. Busy upstairs, but there’s plenty of seats downstairs and a lot less noise. It’s literally 5 minutes walk to the Bord Gáis Theatre. It was difficult to get service, as there was just two bar staff there on 31st May, which was a Saturday, with Tina Turner show in Bord Gáis theatre, so it was busy, very busy. It would definitely benefit from a couple of more staff on busy days like this. It has a lot of very old style furnishings and fittings which are really interesting, so I would like to have the option to have a better look at these. Drinks seem to be reasonable prices. It was €14.30 for a pint of Guinness and a pint of Clockwork Velvet Stout. Clockwork Velvet is a gorgeous stout. Definitely would have that again. I would like to visit again during the week when the place is less lively and there’s more of a relaxed atmosphere there.

Ok let's get the negatives out of the way first. I arrived to be greeted by a smiling chap who saw my disheveled and weary state so suggested I have a drink - his cunning ploy worked as it was lovely so I had 2. I went to my room to do some work and sat on the bed however I soon found out that this was a TRAP! It was far too comfortable and i fell asleep. The morning a was fed a lovely full Irish breakfast but later realised that they feed you up so that you feel guilty when squeezing into the show cubicle afterwards. All in all of you want comfort, a nice atmosphere, clean rooms and good food then thisnis the place for you.
