As a store, Fresh is good - and offers a decent selection. Staff have always been efficient. Yes, it's expensive - but nobody is forcing you to shop there. It's your choice at the end of the day.
However what's not acceptable is for gone off products to be littered through the store. Only in the past week I ended up purchasing an out of date soup - not by one day but by five days. I only learned this as I went home, but it shouldn't have been in stock in the first place. It should have been removed long ago. There was another case where I had one of the Fresh soups, and unfortunately my intestines did not react well to it, if you know what I mean.
That same week, I walked to the meat section and there was gone off, dark grey-brown beef mince - out of date by 3-days and just left there along with everything else. Disgusting!
So something has gone wrong here. And the above instances are by no means the only examples I could give. If a place does want to charge higher rates than competing supermarkets, you'd at least want to ensure that only fresh products are retained.
After all, the name of your store is Fresh - the clue is in the name - though, after my experience, sometimes I think it should be...
Read moreHere has been my experience with this overpriced store. Just bought some Hagan Das ice cream today at around 4.15pm that was listed as €6 odd on the freezer door. When I brought it to the cashier, I was being charged €7.10. This isn't the first time this has happened to me here at this overpriced store. I had similar experience 3 times pre the lockdowns. It had to do with the difference in the price of salad mixes at the salad bar and at the cash register. Always more expensive at the cash register. I brought this to the manager's notice today. While he is a nice chap, he had no sense of urgency or embarrassment over this. So - from my past and current experience here at this overpriced store, I recommend shoppers note the prices on display throughtout the shop and what you are being charged at the til. This is now the 4th time this has happened to me here at this way overpriced store. It has become more an inconvenience store at this stage. To the owners - please take note and ensure that what is priced at the shelf is the same price that is...

And the award for most ironic name goes to... We moved into Smithfield 4 months ago and have been here pretty regularly so what I've seen is not a one off it's a constant.
The vegetable and dairy produce is often spoiled on the shelves, even though it's in date, which leads me to believe it's not being stored correctly. (lumpy milk and rotten veg). Also more expensive then anywhere else around.
I've seen the salads in their salad bar sit without covering until the evening, and still there the next morning. Again, no covering, during a pandemic.
The meat from the butchers is ok but you can get better quality for better value around the corner in lidl.
THEY ACTUALLY CHARGE YOU EXTRA IF YOU WANT YOUR SANDWICH TOASTED!
Their beer and wine selection is fantastic, and for snacks it's great. For anything else do yourself a favour and just go to Lidl, or anywhere else - save yourself some money and get...
