I was told by a friend to go here stating that it is the best ice cream in the world. It was a disappointment.
What made this rating higher was the young lady manning the cash register. She was very people friendly and inviting to tourists.
I ordered a small cup - 1 tiny scoop each of Irish coffee & Dingle sea salt. (4.50 Euro small, 6 Euro medium and 7.50 Euro large cup... more for cones and slightly even more for the "specialty" flavors which were also nothing worth writing about.) You barely get any ice cream in the cup as the scooper is tinier than the cup itself and you get a small ball scoop like the size of a Lindt chocolate. It deceives the eyes when seen from the side, but in actuality, the cup is filled mostly with air space as the 2 tiny ball scoops sit atop one another.
My sister ordered the specialty section (fudgy chocholate brownie) and received no ice cream at all! just brownies and whipped cream in her tiny cup. How is this even ice cream when there was nothing in there that could melt, but the cheap whipped cream filler?
The ice cream itself was very airy and light and nothing fantastic to write about. It was rated very highly so I had to try it either way. If you're in Dingle, you just have to try it, because it's what the tourists do. (They have other Murphy's Ice Cream shops in other cities, so check before you make a long trek just...
Read moreThe Ice-cream here is lovely, slightly pricey but it is a tourist town so this is expected. However the staff that were on today (6/4/19) were quite all over the place. We were greeted by one girl(long curly haired)who when we asked a few questions to, regarding a fish allergy, she gave us an allergen book which was very helpful. Once we queued, we were being served by a girl (Chloe) who was good but it was the new person being trained in or maybe needs to be trained more that really let down the service. She was cutting in over us placing an order from the couple behind, which confused not only us but Chloe who was serving us, then to make matters a little worse the girl who greeted us, decided to cut in front of us to finish our order (confusing us and Chloe more) while also semi-giving out to the new girl, which was not at all quiet or discreet. If you are to train someone in, maybe train them in on one station at a time and maybe a not so busy period, so when peak season arrives they are ready. I give 3 stars because of how messy the staff were, Chloe is the only one I can give credit to as she was trying to make all the different ice creams while the other two...
Read moreI'm raging I never got any pictures of this place. But as you walk in the staff or not invoice friendly and helpful. As we browse through the menu we spotted something that was near and dear to our Irish hearts brown bread ice cream lots of brown bread being in ice cream turned us a little but when we got a taste of it it was the most amazing thing we've ever tasted in our life who would have thought putting granny's homemade brown bread into ice cream would work. You could tell as well with the quality of the ice cream that they had there that it was all homemade a locally sourced. One of the most popular ice creams was the sea salt one. I am not surprised why it is the most popular because it was absolutely beautiful will most definitely...
