Let me start by saying that I really wanted to love this restaurant. My wife is Argentinean so I travel to her country all the time and never had a bad meal--on the contrary, Argentineans pride themselves on the freshness and execution of their food. Unfortunately, that cannot be said about Tango. We ordered three empanadas as an entree, which, while good, were obviously coming from a refrigerator and were pre-heated, but when we had the first bite, we could feel that they were refrigerator cold inside (ugh). We informed the waitress who offered to reheat the remaining one, so we had half a piece of an decent empanada. For our main course, my wife ordered the "Maradona" pizza, which is served with extra garlic and cherry tomatoes. I tried the pizza and we both agreed that it was bad: bland, and the only thing you could taste was the overpowering, very unpleasant taste of burnt garlic. But I saved the worst for last: being a restaurant specializing in Argentinean food, I went with the idea of trying some form of "asado" or meat. The choices were very limited, so I opted for the rib eye steak. At $32 euro a piece, I was expecting a decent piece of meat, cooked to perfection, as Argentineans do. I made a point to order it "medium-rare". When my steak arrived, I could not believe my eyes. They had cut a very small piece of thin burnt meat into 5 mini slices (probably to mask the tiny size), hard as rubber, overcooked to submission, and with so much salt that is was hard to swallow (again, probably to mask that this was old meat). I am aware that Argentinean asado is cooked with salt--I eat it all the time. But this was awful and grossly overpriced for what it was. As far as the ambiance, imagine your most average airport restaurant and that one would have more authentic character. The music could have helped, had it not been loud and pop songs--you would be hard pressed to even guess this was a restaurant dedicated to Argentinean food. Again, all missed opportunities, but my feeling is that the owners intended this as a tourist trap for Americans who come Killarney--and that is exactly what you will find if you step foot on Tango. I do not recommend and will...
Read moreGreat experience at Tango this weekend!
We visited as part of a trip to Kerry and what a great restaurant to stop at! The restaurant isn't fancy, jeans and a nice top are perfect. We didn't have to book for a Sunday night but I promise you won't want to miss out eating here.
My husband got a chicken empanada to start which was delicious! Lovely soft pastry and a chicken and leek style filling that reminded me of the best homemade chicken pie. We shared a pizza and a skirt steak for mains. The pizza was amazing. Perfectly cooked, COVERED in cheese and delicious spicy nduja and honey to balance the spice. The dough was fluffy and crisp on top - an absolute delight to eat. I really enjoyed the skirt steak too - cooked absolutely perfectly and so succulent. The steak was served with homemade wedges with rosemary, a salad and chimichurri. For my personal taste I wanted a little more salt but it was great.
I got a glass of the house red and it was a delicious Malbec which made me VERY happy.
Also the price of the everything here was really good. It was not an expensive meal and we left STUFFED.
There is some parking around the back, about enough for 4/5 cars.
Honestly this is well worth a stop, great food, great drinks, good service and a good price too! Very happy and I highly...

Ordered Asado (Shortribs), Diablo (Pepperoni) pizza, and tiramisu.
The shortribs (and other BBQ) could only be eaten by dining in the restaurant, which is not an issue for us in this instance.
The popular cut of meat didn't live up to the €26 expectations; it was tough and gristly. However, it was cooked and seasoned well and came with pleasant sauces, spinach salad, and potatoes. Overall though, the meat itself was disappointing and reminiscent of leather.
On the other hand, the pizza and tiramisu (2 pieces) were able to be ordered for takeout.
Tiramisu was tasty with a large serving but lacked the richness that you would usually expect.
The Diablo pizza was diabolically terrible. The most flavourful part of it was the crust (slightly burnt as it should be from an authentic pizza-oven). The toppings were bland and fell off of the pizza immediately. Essentially, it was a pepperoni pizza with no spice (no chili flakes as mentioned in the menu description) and with no distinguishing features but the crust. The 4 slices of the 10" pizza were massive and unwieldly, as it was not fully cut through by the restaurant and easily fell apart in your hands.
Very disappointing for €62 overall (about €55 without the...
