Alright.. How should I say this.. Lets start with: THE FOOD AND THE COCKTAILS HERE ARE PHENOMENAL! GO TO THIS PLACE, AND YOU WONT REGRET DINNER CHOICES!
we had 4 different cocktails last night, it was amazing! one of the best cocktail places I have been to!
Next the food! scallops, goats cheese salad, venison and the duck. I loved them! they we cooked well and tasted great.
That said, I did not like the service of itself (NOT the waiters/waitresses - VLAD was a legend)
Yesterday we had a booking for 7:45 pm, we did come early at 7:35pm. got to our tables and ordered pretty quick. it was not until 9:15 that we got our starters and likely close to 9:40 before we got our main dish. (thats literally almost 2 hours!) we were told that 'we are sorry, its a really busy service today, would you like another drink?' the place did not seem that busy imo, but yeap!
I was on holiday mode, So I really dint mind this at all. The person to our left, literally just left his friend there to ask them to put it in a to-go package as they have been waiting for longer.
my theory is: something went bad in the kitchen or something broke like the lads were just working with one stove or something which cant be helped? (plus I dont think this is a common occurrence for this establishment at all)
after an hour + a guy with a blazer came, and apologised, and said he's sorry, this doesnt happen much, said sorry again as it is unacceptable and will take the first drink off, and thats on the house. GREAT! its really a win-win for all really.
But after we ate, and the bill arrived, we saw nothing was taken off.
Look, to be honest? We dint mind at all, the food was great and in my opinion was worth the wait, but that little sprinkle on the icing of the cake (the part when you promised the first drink was on the house)? if you'd have communicated it well, and it did go through? it really does make a happy customer.
So all in all, great food, great cockails, really cool waiter (Vlad). came on a day where something went bonkers but would 100% come again.
just cant give you full points for the service...
Read moreHad a meal here with my partner on the evening of 13th December. We didn't have a booking and just chanced our arm getting one considering its the week before Christmas, but the girl on the door was SO accommodating and welcoming. She made the whole experience even more memorable as herself and her team really looked after us.
People can be quite picky with tables but in The Tanyard I don't think there is any "bad" table. The whole place is fabulous and there's a lively vibe around it. There clearly is a lot of thought put into every detail around this intimate, warm restaurant. I absolutely loved the decor!
We enjoyed a pint of beer and a glass of delicious Shiraz with the most gorgeous homemade selection of breads, served with olives and various dips. We were raving about the focaccia and tomato butter! Next up, we shared the chorizo & manchego croquette, which too was divine and something I would return for in itself. For mains, I got the venison while himself had the duck - both served with a portion of beautifully buttery mashed potato. I rarely can finish my mains, but I couldn't leave any part of this behind, it was so tasty.
Empty plates all around, an exquisite, 10/10 experience that I will be sharing with friends and family for years to come. Looking forward to my next...
Read moreHaving read the reviews, I booked a table for two on a recent visit to Killarney. The town was buzzing and the restaurant was packed, with a wonderful warm, glowing atmosphere. The rooms are beautiful - full credit to the interior design team. The excellent floor manager showed us to one of the best tables in the place, tucked into a window right opposite the church, over the street. We were immediately tended to by our waitress, who brought our choice of water, and menus. We had house cocktails, served with delicious bread and dips. We ordered the black sole and sea bass, with sides of salad, mash and cauliflower gratin. All were perfect, so tasty. If I had one tiny complaint, it would be that the sea bass serving was tiny, where my friend's sole was so enormous that she gave me enough to make my plate just right. I think two small fillets of sea bass would have been more appropriate than just one. Desserts were good, and generous. Mint tea and decaf served afterwards. What really made our night though, was our lovely waitress, so friendly and utterly professional. A fabulous establishment, so well run and designed. I will...
