It was 10pm July 4th and I am a black 24 year old that was born in Ireland , I came in with two other black friends of mine and two white friends. I do not drink alcohol and my friends had not started drinking either. We walked into the bar , went to the bathroom and walked out. We didn’t dance , we didn’t order any drinks just simply walked in and back out . We then decided to come back after half an hour just for the two security guards at the door to tell us that “the boss had told them that we were being messy and were no longer allowed entry into pub” . We proceeded to tell the bouncers that we simply walked in and out of the pub and did not converse with anyone . The bouncer kept on insisting that these were the orders of the boss . This honestly left me startled as I was sober. I then began to realise it’s just because we don’t look like the other people in the bar. We are black , we are tall . We play sports and they immediately perceived us to be something we are not and I’m terribly upset we have been treated this way. This is just shocking to me that people of colour get treated this way in 2025 we only came to enjoy our night and left Killarney feeling like we aren’t accepted . I will continue to report this until it...
Read moreSimply put the security are the worst. Went there with friends, asked for ID and gave ID and security did not even look at it and said you guys need to sober up and come back in about 15 minutes..... even though we were not drunk in the first place as if I was badly drunk I would have not remembered to make this review the next evening, We came back in 15 minutes and said we "Sobered up" and the security said "No lads you need to sober up badly" without even looking at us and since the 15 minutes passed there was a huge line now present of people trying to get in. They were also letting other locals skip in front of the line in quicker. I cannot believe as a local resident of Killarney for over 18 years to be treated like this in my own home town by a local pub. Simply put the only thing protecting 'The Grand' is local support, me and three of my friends work with tourists on a daily basis and recommend 'The Grand' all the time to support local pubs. I will not recommending this anymore after my experience. Thanks for ruining what could have been a...
Read moreAfter many visits to the kilarney grand I have to say tonight was the worst ever. Only visiting kilarney for the weekend from Clare and I'm sorry to say that's my last visit there. After an encounter with 2 very drunk gents and trying to catch the eye of the indoor security to help I found him to be unhelpful to say the least. After being literally layed on by a man who couldn't stand and let's say what he was saying to me shouldn't be repeated the indoor security man saw fit to say "he thought u knew him and why was I just giving him the eye". I'd hate to be a lady in trouble with that security on my side. When my partner and I left I tried to bring it up with the security on the door and again was totally dismissed. I hope the owners and staff of the grand are proud if the reputation the have gained this eve. It really is a shame. NEVER AGAIN. ...
