I was at Curragower yesterday and was extremely disappointed. I made the reservation the day before for Sunday at 20:45. We were very well received by the staff, with the table as reserved. We ordered starters and drinks. Beatifull view of the river and the castle. We received the starters and the drinks, everything exceptional. When we went to order the main courses at approximately 9:15 pm, the waitress told us that the kitchen was closed. How is this possible? NOBODY warned us that the kitchen would close so early. They said absolutely nothing. We had to finish dinner elsewhere. Could you believe it? We left hungry and absolutely disappointed. Did they look at us and think we were going to order just one starter? Could it be that they forgot that we arrived at 8:45 pm (reservation time) and there was no time for dinner in 15 minutes? The food is so god that I we are tempted to come back, but don't feel like we should.

Book now! It is worth flying to Limerick just for this pub's food. The building is a tardis of labyrinthian passages leading to ever more places to dine so don't be put off if the first room is packed. In summer the garden has a lovely view of the castle and river. The drinks are delivered prompt, the staff lovely and energetic and they serve the BEST CHICKEN WINGS IN THE WORLD! Having just been blown away with the Venison rack (perfectly chargrilled to medium rare) I thought I was done when a friend offered a spare chicken wing. I've eaten many of these around the world and I have NEVER eaten anything so delicious....to my shame (on a full stomach) I polished off another 10. Spicy, sour, sweet, perfectly cooked. I had to ask for the recipe I was so impressed. Really, REALLY GOOD!

Just had takeaway. Maybe an off night for them but very disappointed. Their Instagram makes the food look amazing. Spicy chicken wings were dry, buffalo burger was tough, chips were bland and oily. Friend had scampi and said it was 'ok' also had jalepeno poppers and the cheese was not oozy as you would expect but dry and she only ate 2. Maybe the food doesn't travel well....... - drove 20 mins home but defo should have been more sauce on the wings. Paid €49 and would have been better with something out of the freezer. Will try again as they are local and I had high expectations. Positive thing was they gave extra blue cheese which was nice. Sorry Curraghgower but if I was eating in I would have complained and sent most of food back. :(

We had lamb and calamari. Lamb was dark, and the fat was not properly rendered (broiled and overdone, not seared/crispy etc), making it fairly unappetizing (a real shame given properly rendered lamb fat is quite tasty). The calamari was not prepared well. There were dense stringy bands of connective tissue that we've never encountered in calamari previously. The flavor of the breading was good, crispy, etc. The lamb flavor was good as well. The mashed potatoes had a funk, I'm worried it was mold because I was getting a moldy bread taste. Cookie sandwich dessert was good from a flavor standpoint, but the cookies were ridiculously overcooked. At the end of the day, our experience was mediocre pub fare at well-above average prices.

Came in for a solo lunch and was greeted so warmly by all staff. My server recommended the rhubarb sour and it’s probably one of the most balanced and tastiest cocktails I’ve had in a long time. I didn’t realize their drinks were THAT level, but pleasantly surprised. I had the fish and chips for a late lunch. It was a pretty large portion. The fish is perfectly battered and cooked. I usually shy away from fried stuff but this wasn’t overly greasy. The chips are also super thick and filing. I heard lovely things about the chowder, but I’ll save that for my next visit. I really enjoyed the view of King John’s Castle from the outdoor seating area. This place is a MUST if you’re in the area.

The best seafood chowder I’ve had in limerick yet… very creamy and tasty. My friends were very satisfied with those chicken waffles, chicken box, and fish n chips. We’ve had great time there. I recently tried their fix box and was also really nice… loads of chips with fried hake, scampi and calamari. They also got a nice selection of non-alcoholic mocktails.
