We wanted to love this place - super cute and right across from St John's Castle in Limerick. When we arrived at 2pm they were busy so we Sat outside. This was a mistake. They were actually understaffed - 1 waitress, 1 bartender and we think one manager. We had to go in to order and were told they would bring us our drinks. After 30 minutes we still did not have drinks so went in and asked - they quickly brought out our drinks and said our food was coming. After an hour and 15 mins we moved inside and we asked the waitress about our food. She said she would check on it but never returned to our table. After another 15 mins we asked her about it and she admitted they had lost our ticket and there was no food coming. The entire staff was running around with their heads cut off and no one even once stopped to ask if we had been served. Its too bad they could have this fully staffed and making much more money. Such a shame - we have a lot of friends visiting in the next year and we will tell them to steer clear of...
Read moreFirst time in Katie Dalys yesterday. The atmosphere was lovely and the Guinness was nice :) I was with two others and they ordered the fish pie and fish chowder and they were very happy with their meals. I ordered a veggie burger but requested it to be made vegan and the staff were very accommodating. It was ok...I took a star away because It said it was the 'beyond meat' burger (which is a brand of vegan meat imitation foods) on the menu but it tasted like some other (cheaper) brand. The bun was a bit stale and the chips were undercooked. I suppose I should be happy enough to have had a vegan option at all (as there often isn't in places like this) but I wish that didn't have to be the bar to aim for. I can't remember exactly the price of it but it was between €18-20 so would have hoped for...
Read moreA nice place for drinks with friendly staff but not sure about the food! A group of us went for lunch here and ordered the Limerick ham sandwiches at €8.50 a piece! They were truly awful. The bread was very, very dry and the sandwiches looked and tasted as though they had been made a day or two before. We were charged an extra €4 each for chips which on ordering the server suggested were included. There are much nicer and more affordable places in the city to eat. There were also some suspicious people wandering around the outdoor seating area. I would suggest minding your belongings while sitting outside. That said, it’s a lovely place for drinks with a view of the castle and there is a nice friendly atmosphere...
