Extremely disappointing service. Make sure to triple check that they got your complete order or else your night will be ruined!

First of all when we arrived we were left waiting at the door to be seated for quite a few minutes even though there were only 3 other tables seated at the time and the staff didn't appear preoccupied. We usually wouldn't have minded this wait but this was of many issues that night.

We were then seated by the female, who I assume was the manager. The male waiter then checked our COVID certs and left the book with the contact tracing details at our table for some reason? We were asked to fill in the details ourselves and this book with the details of all previous customers not only from that day but that entire year was left at our table and was only taken away by the female some 30 minutes later. This book contains people's names and contact details and so the disregard for protecting this infromation is quite concerning.

We were then left with the menus for around 20 minutes before our order was taken. We found this strange given the restaurant was not that busy but, again, didn't mind too much at the time. The male waiter then came to take our orders. I ordered the deep-fried duck gyoza with miso soup as a starter. For my main I asked for the BBQ pork ramen (note that the waiter double checked which ramen I wanted when I ordered this). My girlfriend asked for the sushi tuna roll with miso soup as a starter and kyoto yaki soba for her main.

I must say that the time it took for our starters to arrive was an average wait and I found the duck gyoza to be of high quality with the miso soup being average. My girlfriend's sushi was nice but we have had better before.

My girlfriend's yaki soba was brought out while we were still in the middle of eating our starters which we found quite strange, this meant that it had cooled down qutite a bit before she starting eating it. We had assumed that my ramen would be brought out shortly after, but how wrong were we.

It wasn't until my girlfriend was halfway through her main that I started thinking that maybe something was up. I looked over at the waiter and the woman who I assume was the manager but they were preoccupied with other customers. A few minutes later when the male waiter came to clear a table beside us I asked if my ramen was on the way to which I got a half muttered reply of "yeah...I'll ask". He then went to check with the woman and returned promptly to then question me saying "you ordered ramen?". Note how I said he asked me about which ramen I wanted when ordering my food, so there is no way that he missed it when I ordered. The waiter's tone and way of questioning was highly unprofessional and impolite. He returned to the woman and then she came down and asked me in a much more polite way if I had ordered ramen to which I replied that yes I ordered duck gyoza with miso soup and the BBQ pork ramen.

At this stage my girlfriend had already finished her food and I was frustrated by the situation. When I was told that it would take a few minutes, I said that if it's only being ordered now I didn't want it. The woman said they would make it a priority and make it fast but I just told them to forget about it as we were unwilling to wait even longer. All that was said as an apology was that "sorry, he's new".

When I went to pay the bill I was again apologised to by the woman expalining that the waiter is new and the waiter said sorry. I understand that the waiter was new, but that is not an excuse for how the situation was handled. I paid the bill and left the restaurant. We will not return to this restaurant again and I highly suggest you consider going...

The restaurant is now only the shadow of its glorious past… it used to be a fair contestant to the great Taikichi restaurant in Limerick but clearly not anymore… I am sad to see that the quality of the sushis is as bad as it can get, a good example of that is how they have replaced real crabmeat for those cheap crab stick in the sushis. We were 4 eating at this restaurant and it took them 2h30 in total to serve us all our food, little by little… obviously, 2h after eating your first dish, it is hard to eat your last dish as you are not hungry anymore so we had to take the rest in takeaway. On top of that, they forgot part of our meal and when we asked for it, they said that we were wrong… I think I do know what I ordered and what I have eaten.

All in all, the food quality was poor, we waited 2h30 in total do our food and they forgot part of our order.

We will clearly never come back to this restaurant as there is a way better option in Limerick that I referred to previously. I am not mad Kyoto, I am...

Kyoto is a great restaurant with charming staff.

The woman working at the counter accommodated us despite us not knowing you needed a reservation (outdated due to lockdown ending), our mistake, and was very polite during orders and whilst paying.

The food was stellar, I had a noodle bowl with ramen and teriyaki topped with grilled chicken.

It was amazing and the portion size was beyond worth the money.

I could hardly finish it despite having a big appetite.

Have returned many times with both friends and family, every trip has been worth it.

I find the Japanese alcohol to be pricey since a local store sells it for half the price by the bottle but if they're personally importing it I understand the need for a...

I love eating here whenever I am in Limerick. Everything we have ever ordered from Kyoto has been amazing. I especially love the onigiri and my husband loves the chicken katsu curry. Our go to nigiri are salmon, tuna, tamago and inari. Always delicious and so fresh!!! Service is good. Kitchen is efficient at making your order in a timely manner. Staff are very welcoming and nice. Definitely drop by if you are looking for tasty Japanese food or sushi!!! Highly recommend it.

Looks good, but never taste good. I'm a Japanese food lover and I've been having it over 15 years. This restaurant is absolutely low quality. The ramen noodle is from supermarket, not hand-made. The sashimi is not very fresh with a little fishy taste. The fried dumplings is from supermarkets frozen food as well. The eel nigiri is good. But it cannot change the image of this restaurant. Every dish looks very pretty, but the dish made me disappointed one time and another.

I've eaten a lot of sushi and this is up there with the best. Everything deserves 5 stars; the food, the service, the interior design, even the little details of the soy sauce and wasabi containers. I was told when I moved to limerick that Taikichi was the best--it's really good--but it's nowhere near as good as Kyoto. I'd recommend the salmon belly nigiri and their sashimi is fresh, expertly prepared, and the portion size is decent. I wish I could eat here every day!
