This is a weird situation here. So, the hotel is good, the rooms are okay, one room is good with some wear and tear, the other was stinky but it was fixed within 20 minutes of mentioning it to the receptionist. There's a small executive lounge on the fourth floor which is well stocked with some fruits, snacks, soft drinks and some hot drinks. It's accessible 24 hours and it's a really nice addition to the services, way better than a minibar would be. We got a corner room with an amazing view of the river and the other bank. We also have a balcony, that's more like a sunny room so it's nice to sit there and drink your coffee. The bad part is the restaurant here. I know it's not a part of the hotel so I won't tell you all the details of our horrible dinner experience there, but I would suggest avoiding it at all costs. Where it's harder to avoid is breakfast. First of all, there's not a great variety of food there. After getting through the quite overcomplicated voucher system you'd assume there's something great waiting for you, but the food is mediocre at best. The rashers are not well prepared and you can tell they are on the cheaper side, the bagel was at least 2-3 days old, the scrambled eggs are just bad. There are only heated plates for your food and they are hotter than the surface of the sun. Seriously, on the first day it burned my hand through a paper napkin. So on the second day I asked for a plate that was not hot. The lady wouldn't even answer me just disappeared to the kitchen area, then came back out and pointed behind her back suggesting the plate was coming. I waited for 5 minutes standing around but no plate came so I asked another staff member for it. Eventually I got one but the first lady's reaction was so rude. Later when we were almost finished a man grabbed my husband's plate without asking if he was done with it. So the staff is rude, the whole thing is disorganised, the food is not really good and it's quite pricey. The hotel on its own would deserve a 4 star rating but if you add the service at the restaurant it drags down the score to two stars and it would be just one from me if not for Arthur, the receptionist on duty when we checked in and had the terrible experience in the restaurant.

This review is LONG overdue, but we felt like we hit the jackpot!! Let's start by saying, overall I don't think we had many expectations for the drive to Limerick. It was easy enough getting there from Dingle and not long of a drive. Our hotel was right on the "strand" (which is what they call rivers? in Ireland). We got incredibly lucky and got upgraded to an amazing suite when we checked in. We aren't sure if it is because it was only one night's stay, or because we used the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, but it was literally the biggest and nicest room my husband and I had EVER stayed in (August 2023). Unfortunately the hotel didn't offer laundry services for only one night, but the staff was very helpful in sharing some food recommendations for dinner and breakfast. Emily and Scott were especially helpful making sure we had everything we needed and making us feel very comfortable and welcomed into the city. The hotel itself is located in a perfect spot between being able to walk the main downtown streets and still close enough to the points-of-interests. It felt designed towards business related events and we really clean, nicely decorated and smelt good! In the lobby, they had a piano (which the F major key didn't work) but that's ok. Our junior suite was on the third floor, and was the corner room with a wrap around balcony giving 180°+ views of the city, including the King John's Castle. It was the only true king size bed we have had and even had 2 sinks! It was furnished beautifully and has perks like blankets for the glassed-in balcony and modern accent lighting. We really liked this hotel and was our favorite by far!!

Unfortunately probably one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Over-priced bedrooms, under staffed and one of the bar staff had a shockingly negative attitude and said some questionable things. Bedrooms were what you would expect from a normal 4* hotel. One of the only positives of the room was the fact the shower and bath were separate. Drinking water was provided but no glasses to pour the water into. No coffee machine was in our room as described in the booking process. For a price of roughly €300/night you would expect car parking to be included but it costs an extra €9/night for hotel users. Arrived for dinner at 8pm and left at 10:30 due to the incredible waiting time. The dining part of the restaurant was quite dark and the description of the range of food on the menus was almost unreadable due to the light text/font they used. (I have attached a photo) As for the food : Seafood tagliatelle had prawns which we overcooked and a salad on top? you also had to take off the head and tails off the prawns yourself. As for desert, the roulade had some pink cream on top of this Swiss roll that had way to much sugar in it, It looked and tasted processed. There was a wedding or conference on which had extremely loud music playing and it started at 11pm. You could hear it almost word for word on the 1st floor of rooms. Would not recommend to stay here when looking for a place to stay in Limerick.

Were to even begin, we had our son's Communion meal booked here for just under 30 people on Saturday 5th April. When we arrived we were all sat separately on 4 different tables when other groups were all together. We got on with it as just wanted our son to enjoy his day. But this was the start of what became a shambles of a day. Our meal order was taken at 3:50pm we received our starters at 5:30 brought out with absolutely no organisation wrong food some people got a starter and others got theirs 30 minutes later. Our mains were late we asked to have steaks well done the downright rude waitress refused, but accommodated this request from others in our party. Food portions were miniscule and my aunt who is diabetic and unable to eat large portions asked for a child's starter and meal to be told by the same rude waitress yes but I'll be charging you for an adults starter we questioned this as the soup was on the menu for children so we were unsure as to why this needed to be said. I received a child's soup as no-one serving us cared who got what. My son who was the Communion child and meant to be the centre of attention on the day was asked his order last served his starter last and then they had no dinner for him after everyone else expect one was given their main. I told the same rude waitress who had a steak in her had that she wanted to get rid that my son ha no meal to which she replied "ya that's ok" deserts were late as well and only half of us got tea/coffee. I spoke to the supervisor/manager who apologised and then offered 2 free meals after 4 hours there we agreed just to get out of there and move on from the rude and patronising service when I asked to pay I was told sit down I'm doing your bill and ended up waiting another 30 minutes for the patronising waiter/headwaiter to bring my bill and we paid and left unhappy but relived to be out of there as it was never ending. I then received an email to ask how my day was a week later, which I was upset by as I would have thought the issues would have been passed on to the events team but obviously they prefer to hide the terrible service and rude staff issues from management, so I responded and was told I would be contacted by a manager. I was contacted by Andrew who told me this was not how the Strand operated and they would like to offer me a voucher for a meal for me, my partner and 2 children as an apology ( between the meal and drinks on the day over €1500 was spent in the hotel at least) I felt this was inadequate and Andrew then said he would speak to his manager again he came back to me and offered me a refund of 20% in addition to the refund which I just accepted as again I just wanted an end to my dealings with the hotel. I was happy to leave at that Andrew told me I would be called to take my card details (I had paid cash) I got an email the next day from his colleague who asked for my bank details I queried this as Andrew had not mentioned this, when she explained I sent my IBAN as she had requested only this and was assured by her she was processing the refund then and I had been advised by Andrew he would contact me back so I mentioned in the email I would wait for the voucher to be discussed with Andrew and requested he call me on the Friday afternoon. I got no response to this email so assumed he would call me. I got an email from Andrew in fact on the Sunday to say he was happy I had spoken with his colleague and gotten everything finalised and could he have my IBAN and BIC to process the refund, along with a scanned image of a buffet voucher. I was never told the meal was a buffet as this was not the impression Andrew gave me when speaking about the meal he was inviting us back for to make up for the disastrous day and the hotel ruining my son's special day. Also I had already given my IBAN so why was I being asked for these again. I replied to Andrews email looking for clarification on this to receive no reply. I emailed again on the Tuesday at this point extremely annoyed to receive a reply from Andrew with an email he had sent me on the Monday, only when I looked at this email Andrew had in fact sent the email to himself, absolutely farcical at this stage. I then had a call from Andrew after pointing this out he at no point admitted his error and I told him I did not want anything to with the hotel after the series of ongoing mistakes, rudeness and downright incompetence. I asked for the full cost of the meal on the day to be refunded as I would not want to deal with them again. He said no matter what happened they had ruined my son's day and therefore nothing was going to make me happy, so therefore by Andrew's logic there was no point in trying I said a further refund would at least have some thought rather than being an effort to placate me, but I'm sure you can see where this is going he had no intention of doing anymore even though in his words they ruined my son's communion day. I asked for him to bring this to the hotel manager and for a call from the hotel manager he agreed to do this and then Andrew called me back to say the hotel manager wasn't available to speak with me ad they would do no more for me. Had this hotel any regard for them destroying my child's day and making him feel invisible on his special day rather than the centre of attention the Hotel manager would have made some decent gesture but their attitude was we ruined the day why should we be out of pocket its not going to change anything. Instead of resolving my complaint Andrew just added serval more mistakes to the disaster that is this hotel, it's staff and absolute lack of service Avoid it at all costs, still waiting for the manager to call which I doubt will happen and apparently they are posting a buffet voucher which I doubt I will use as I don't have 6 spare hours on a Sunday to have a cold sloppy buffet lunch in a restaurant with rude...

I visited this hotel last week with my 5 year old daughter.|We were over visiting family after I’d finished chemotherapy treatment for cancer. |On seeing that others had been upgraded for free as a nice surprise, I emailed ahead to ask if we might have a nice river view but sadly I was told that I would have to pay for this and they could offer a partial view to which I agreed to. |On arrival the room we got was not a partial river view at all which was a little disappointing, we overlooked the front entrance and car park. Not the end of the world though as we don’t spend an awful lot of time in our room anyway so never mind! ||That aside though the hotel itself is lovely. The decor is very grand and upmarket, the beds very comfy and the staff all very friendly and helpful. |The food was what sets this hotel apart from others as it was top tier. |We tried the buffet breakfast a few days and also the Sunday carvery and we loved both. Everything was so fresh, hot, and cooked very well. I couldn’t fault a single thing about the food. ||The hotel also has a spa and pool, these were lovely and we used them often. With my little one being 5 she loved the pool most days until we had a very unfortunate encounter with a man who had a pool/spa membership (not hotel guest).|Children are allowed in the pool until 7pm and my little one was in the main pool having a lovely time until this man who was swimming lengths decided that it was his pool and children were not allowed to get in his way. |We had words shall we say and I reported him to the pool staff who assured me that I was correct and he had no right to argue with me. They assured me that this would be looked into and dealt with so I left it with them. Again they were lovely and all very helpful. ||Slight niggles I had - The tv guide on the rooms tv shows the channels but not what’s on. It says information unavailable so you had no idea what program was on which channel and had to just channel surf to find out 😂 I don’t know if this was just our room and we were unlucky or if it was the same for everyone. Also the shower gel in the shower had run out and wasn’t refilled by the cleaners. |I did report both these to reception but they were not sorted before we left. |Not a major issue really but if I had to nitpick then that’s all I had to moan about! ||The location is also great, a short walk across the river bridge and you’re in the middle of town with plenty of shops, pubs, restaurants and locally owned cafes and other businesses. Try the locally run cafes and cake shops as you will not be disappointed! The food in Limerick is not to be missed out on. ||Overall we did have the best few days staying at this hotel and we would most definitely return in future! ||Thank you...
