We left Bray 3 1/2 years ago. Many a Sunday morning we went in search of an Eggs Benny followed by a Pancake stack or French Toast for dessert. Found a few places that had a character all their own. This morning, in a post-covidian era, visiting with family and friends, we waved away the nostalgia and headed down to DY8. It was like a slice of time had been frozen just for us. The wait staff were brilliant. Very relaxed and chatty. Sat into a bench table and we got a menu that had the favourites and new additions. We chatted about the memories that each dish carried. I had the Chefs Breakfast. Crisp parma ham, poached eggs, sourdough toast, guacamole and the crowning glory, battered asparagus spears. It. Was. Sublime. I love me a good coffee. My Americano's were delicious and just the right temperature. No breakfast dessert today though. I hope it won't be as long again before we visit. Thanks for being there folks and maintaining your standards through these difficult times. We are definitely the better from our visit.

After 3 days in Dublin, we started our drive out to the Irish countryside by heading to Bray. Our 1st day's itinerary included Powerscourt Waterfall, The Sally Gap Road, Glendalough, Kilkenny Catle and Mt. Juliet. With a day like that ahead of us we needed a good breakfast to fuel us up. As luck would have it, Dockyards No. 8 wasn't a good breakfast... it was a great breakfast. The guys had the Dockyards Breakfast and the women had the porridge. All of us started out with a cappuccino. (3 with caffeine 1 without). The Dockyards was a refined traditional Irish breakfast which the men thoroughly enjoyed. The women were pleasantly surprised by the elegance and flavor of the porridge topped with fresh fruit, candied walnuts and maple syrup. We also met the owner and had a pleasant chat after breakfast. Considering the food, service and friendliness, Dockyards No. 8 was an awesome start to the day and the Irish countryside.

Avoid if possible. They say its a walk in , but when we got there ,they had 5 empty tables and asked for our phone number and to come back in 30 mins. So We tryed a take away. We walked in to order at the bar for our takeaway and staff walked with hot food over my children's head coming out of the kitchen. (Standing room only) We were their 30 minutes waiting on out takeaway and when we left 4 tables were still empty. staff were rude because we questions the empty tables. Our takeaway was slop in a box is the only way to describe the breakfast, 2 eggs 1 sausage 1 bacon floating around in a box. The pancakes were burnt. 3 warm cokes. €33.40. The seagulls would not eat the pancakes.. what a horrible experience. Talk about a rip-off. Avoid avoid avoid this place. 1☆ star was generous..

My sister found Dockyard No8 on Google before setting of for a family daytrip. So we choose here solely on their online presence. Bingo. Such a great start to our day. We had phoned to make a reservation but it's walk in only. Thankfully they were able to provide seating for all 9 of us on arrival. The staff were welcoming and very pleasant. They attended us with great efficiency. A superb quality. The breakfast choices were fab. A brilliant selection for both adults and children and although it wasn't officially lunch time they cooked chips for our picky children and even suggested swap outs for the fussy adults. Very accommodating. We all really enjoyed our choices. Good honest cooking prepared with beautiful ingredients. Super tasty food and good portion sizes. Lovely presentation with no nonsense. Should we ever be passing again it will be on our stop list list. Definitely...
