I think the Mermaid arts theatre is a real shame. Such a beautiful layout and some excellent acts and performances available. Tickets are always reasonably priced and seating and everything is comfortable. But my god the heat in the place. The staff let the audience in, close the door and forget about their customers. With a full theatre and performances on stage with no windows or air the place heats up and is extremely uncomfortable. Is there no air conditioning???? I would only go to the mermaid now if I had to for my child's performances but i would never bother with the place for anything else for this reason. I have lunch here a couple times a month.

The menu is nice and the staff are friendly. It can be very busy and a bit crowded, but everyone is so friendly it doesn’t matter. They seem to be quite accommodating with respect of ordering; for example, I prefer mayo to one of the sauces so they easily substitute.

I would describe this as an upscale cafe. There’s a wide selection of tea and coffee, with a variety of food options.

The sandwiches are lovely and filling. There’s something special about their curly fries.
