Sitar is an Award winning Indian Takeaway and Restaurant set very close to the main street in Dundalk. We visited on Saturday and went for a sit in meal, we could absolutely understand the hype! We were served by Jemma and Neha who did an excellent job at helping us pick which dishes to choose and make us feel welcome right away. There is no dedicated Vegan menu but Jemma informed us that any of the mains can be made plant-based aside from the cream based options such as Pasanda/Korma. This means there is a huge choice for Vegans here and everything we ordered was delicious! We started with the Vegetable Pakora which was perfectly cooked with a crispy and beautifully spiced batter. On Jemma's advice I ordered the Vegetable Biryani. I was able to swap the curry sauce for one of the mains sauces, I chose the Jalfrezi. This was one of the best Biryanis I have ever had, extremely flavourful and packed full of different veg giving it a great texture. The Jalfrezi was hot, with a rich tomato based flavour. Also we tried the Chana Masala which once again beats the others I have recently tasted. It had a slightly tangy and sweet flavour which really made it stand out. Along side this we had the Stuffed Paratha which was lovely, just what you need to mop up your sauce 😁 Overall this was a fantastic meal: the service was brilliant; food, super tasty and the price was extremely reasonable. If you are in Dundalk and want Indian food you need to try it! Can't wait...

Absolutely delicious. We've ordered takeaway from here many times. This was our first time eating in. Why have we waited so long to do this?! We will definitely be back! The real star of this place is the freshness and care that is so obvious in the food. Our meal began with a basket of poppadom and a trio of delicious sauces to eat them with. We ordered the starter sharing platter for 2. The best part of this was the tandoori chicken pieces. So juicy, hot, and ever so slightly charred to perfection. We shared the Goan fish curry. My wife said it was the absolute best preparation of monk fish she ever had. We ordered it medium spice and it was perfect. Hot enough to be enjoyable but not so hot that you couldn't taste the natural sweetness of the fish. It was so good that we failed to snap a picture of it! We also ordered plain naan and (on recommendation of our excellent server) the peshwari naan. It has a mix of coconut and sultana inside the naan. This slightly sweet naan was aMaZInG with the curry. It was a perfect combination. Thanks for a lovely meal. The service was excellent and careful and friendly but...

Extremely expensive for the quality of the food, location and atmosphere.

Very average food, had chicken Tikka for starters, there was literally 3 small pieces of chicken on a small plate, the chicken was extremely hot and dry as it appeared to be microwave heated. For the main dish had Himalayan chicken which came in a very small bowl with 4-5 small pieces of chicken and 1 slice of red Peper (rest was gravey) On top of all this unfortunately they have very different prices when you look them up and when you go to dine in and it takes you by surprise as a dish that they have priced 12.95€ it will cost you 18.95€ (not even including rice or anything else for that matter). Spent almost 30€ on a starter dish, Main and rice and excuse is that its a dine in price.

I don't know if they think their cook or their dishes are Michelin star or their location and atmosphere is even slightly high end to justify these...
