We found food in Bodega to be incredibly tasty: both meaning that it has a strong taste and that the taste is deeply enjoyable. That's a very good reason to give it a second chance as the rest (service and atmosphere) was not where we would have liked it to be.
We went in on a very busy night and so we're ready for some sub optimal things.
We were surprised when we got our food in 12 mins (not what you would expect for a crispy duck leg and fresh pasta).
We were also quite disappointed when the 2 cocktails we ordered arrived when we were toward the end of our main, after we had to solicit them and the waiters came back a couple of times to clarify the orders they had taken.
The atmosphere was very lively but seeing waiters literally running up and down the place and repeatedly dropping glasses and glass bottles didn't help having a relaxing enjoyable night. That contested with them literally stopping to talk to customers who were paying to go and hugh other customers who were leaving.
It didn't help that at the table right close to us there was a very loud group of friends celebrating...
Read moreHad Dinner on two occasions in this over priced want to be chipper, the waiting staff are the only thing going for this place. Having eaten food in every corner of the World it takes a lot for me to write a bad review, however scallops took 43 mins long to come to tale than you would expect and when they did they were only fit to use as tires on a toy car rubbery beyond belief, as for the rest of the dinner it was below average at best and not worth anything near what they were charging, Waterford has no really good places to go for fine dining I don't know is this a reflection on the food industry but what one would call a chef and what gets by as a chef in this town are two different animals.
There should be a scheme introduced around what is a restaurant and what is pretending to be a Restaurant the latter been somewhere where a creative writer and not a chef has written the Menu. Amount of Restaurants over charging for badly cooked food is beyond a joke, we were all sorry we didn't go to McDonalds at least you get what it says on the tin...
Read moreThis was our favorite place from our full tour of Ireland! Being a nestled restaurant amongst cobblestone streets made the perfect stroll through the city prior to arrival. A quaint clean, space, with a natural modern edge in its decor. The food speaks for itself in freshness and flavor, made with attention to detail for a high quality result. Paired with an excellent wine list and combination bar of cocktail drinks this was fine dining with the comfortable feel of home. Don't skip dessert or you will be sad, cream brulee with a sugar torched top that cracks like glass and espresso, will wisp you away in the magic that is Ireland. A true experience, for an evening I will...
