Burzza — Restaurant in Waterford

Our dinner at Burzza this evening was not just disappointing — it was dangerous and handled with complete disregard.

Midway through our meal, a table we were seated at completely collapsed due to what staff later admitted was a faulty hinge. This resulted in a terrifying accident where my partner’s 5-year-old daughter was struck in the face by the falling table, visibly upset and crying, and also completely soaked by drinks and food. Two other adults in our party were also soaked and had to go home to change.

The table was clearly unsafe and should never have been in use. It was a serious safety hazard, especially with children present — and yet the incident was met with zero urgency or real apology. We were moved inside (fine), but staff avoided us most of the night. One female server even seemed annoyed by the situation and showed clear attitude rather than empathy. Not once did management check in or express concern. The only person who showed any empathy was a young server who checked on us briefly.

When the bill came, we were shocked to find we were being charged in full — for four adults and a child, including desserts and coffee. When questioned, we were told “we took the kid’s ice cream off.” That was the only gesture. When we brought up how unacceptable it was that a child was hit in the face by a collapsing table, we were told “This has never happened before, we’re all just confused how it broke.”

That is not a valid response. That is an excuse, not accountability. And frankly, it felt like we were being brushed off — possibly because we’re a young group in our twenties, treated like a nuisance rather than people who just experienced a dangerous, distressing situation involving a child.

We left feeling angry, ignored, and completely disrespected. Accidents happen — but how they’re handled is what matters. Burzza failed on every level tonight. A child was hurt by a dangerous piece of furniture, and the lack of empathy, responsibility, or even a proper apology is honestly disgraceful.

Vegan and vegetarian options are lacking.

This was once a place I used to come quite often but my last three visits were rather disappointing. I went for breakfast with my family and we ordered waffles - at the time there were two types of waffles on the menu, I'm unsure if this is still the same but it took over an hour for us to get served this simple waffle meal as the restaurant only has one waffle maker.

My second visit was when I was still a meat eater, I had asked for a chicken burger - again there are two on the menu and I got the one I didn't ask for - the waitress simply said, they're basically the same, when I asked her about it. I wasn't given the option to return my burger and get the one I had ordered.

My third visit was as a vegan. I messaged the restaurant on Facebook a day or two before asking for the vegan options and all I got back was a thumbs up. It was quite confusing. I ended up getting the vegetarian burger made vegan by asking for the removal of several items which resulted in a dry burger, maybe this was my own fault but I thought when I notified the restaurant in advance they would...

Ordered Korean Chicken Wrap and my GF ordered the burger… the burger was decent one of the best I’ve eaten (tasted), the wrap was the complete opposite end of the spectrum …super poor frozen breaded chicken. I complained and they asked me was there anything else I wanted, I just asked for fresh so I tried the wings, they were precooked from the day before (shocking) the owner whom disappeared when the situation arose of dissatisfaction to leave it to the waitresses. I requested the owner to come down, he tried to tell me that they prepare the breaded chicken in the wraps everyday and that every restaurant pre cooks chicken wings. Long story short… if you visit, just order the burgers or pizzas.
