Kuro Waterford — Restaurant in Waterford

Interesting night. As you can see from the photo...very uninviting decor at the entrance. Sorry lads...but no rubbish is being picked up at 20:30 on a Sunday - do better. Food - great sushi rolls - we had the Calamari Roll and Spicy Tuna Roll. Pork Gyoza appetizer was wonderful. Eating downstairs is loud - music totally wrong and tables need some upgrades...maybe a table cloth 🤷 Service was ok...but not stellar. Had a waiter who recommended an appetizer - some rice cake thing - totally undesirable - then told us later he doesn't like it. Stay clear of that appetizer! If this place is to last there needs to be some big adjustments in my opinion. Keep the chefs...they did good. I'll be back...but sit upstairs in a nice environment 💕

•Don't really care what time the bins have to be collected on a Monday - simple fact is that it isn't a nice way to enter or exit a restaurant. But now people know that this will be their view on a Sunday evening.

•Not interested that the staff were taking time away from their own mother's (if that's even the case). Then don't open on Mother's Day! I went in and spent my money at your restaurant - don't make me feel like you/the staff did me the favour.

•Really wish the music had been a nostalgic playlist - would have loved that! It was loud teen pop/rock.

•I was trying to be nice in my review. My table was in fact dirty. Hadn't been cleaned properly. So if hygiene is the issue then that is an easy fix.

•Just like I said the food was good - that appetizer wasn't. And your waiter recommended a dish then told us later he didn't really like it. Want us new customers to trust your staff recommendations - then it has...

Where do i start. Don't think i have ever gone out of my way to leave a bad review before. So i tried this place last week and my honest review was the food was awful. Cheap stringy chicken that you get in Chinese takeaways. Certainly not quality that warrants a price of almost 20 euro for a few pieces of fried chicken. They delivered the wrong drink too. It just wasn't a good experience nor was the food good. They decided to sneakily remove my review however and than reply asking for "details" to be sent to them privately. Despite this. I was stupidly talked into given them a second try this evening after i disputed the first order with the delivery agency who refunded me. Bigger fool me because this time i received no drink at all. Spring rolls werent nice but i can look past that, not everything is gonna be to someone's taste. But the main course was again so poor. Chicken is cooked until it's so dry you can't chew it enough to swallow it. I dunno how any chef could serve it to anyone. Rice was again like clumps of mush. Convinced it's microwaveable rice. I don't believe any experienced chef would hand food that bad to a paying customer. No idea where the 5 star reviews are coming from although i suspect at least some of them are staff / friends. We had dinner at the restaurant today (table booked for 5:00 PM) and unfortunately, the overall experience was quite disappointing. The service felt disorganised — we were moved between tables despite having a reservation. At one point, when our plates were being cleared, something spilled from a dish onto my friend’s coat. It seemed the server noticed, but didn’t acknowledge it or offer any assistance. We also ordered mochi for dessert, which was supposed to come with berry sorbet (as listed on the menu). What we received was two pieces of mochi with a side of regular ice cream. Only when it was served did the staff mention that the sorbet was unavailable and had been substituted. We weren’t informed in advance, and I personally chose that dessert specifically because of the sorbet, so this was disappointing. The server — a blonde young woman with a nose ring — also made a brief comment in a language we had not used when speaking to her. It felt unnecessary and a bit uncomfortable, as it came across more as a remark than a friendly gesture. The food itself was average, the atmosphere lacked warmth, and the service needs improvement.
