I donāt do reviews but this has to be documented. So, letās start with the positivesā¦. The food was very good, the restaurant and facilities were clean. We wanted to try a variety of starters because amongst our party of four, was one person who had not experienced Japanese food, previously. But the first waitress demanded that we order our mains at the same time as the starters. We were duly complying and as we were deciding on our mains, a second waitress took over to serve (well, it was more intimidation than service). It was the rudest approach by a waitress I have ever experienced. No smile, no welcome, no warmth, no patience. When I was paying the bill I enquired and was told that her name was Saika. Well, Saika has got to be the rudest waitress (if not person) I have ever met in my life (Iām 60). She turned our supposed-to-be-relaxing meal into a sprint to get out as soon as possible. The restaurant was not full or particularly busy but in her rush to āprocessā us, she got our order wrong. She tried to blame us for that and after checking her order book, realised her mistake. She didnāt apologise and just ran off to further check her notes. She didnāt return to our table to apologise or explain about the expected delay time for two of our mains. The remaining dishes were served, but by another waitress. When I was paying, I tried to explain to the manager that Saika was very rude but the manager somehow didnāt understand the word ārudeā. This is the only restaurant I have not tipped the service. I genuinely always tip. This was definitely the worst customer service all four of us have ever experienced. But I would recommend that you go to Kyoto for the food and be entertained by the rudeness of Saika. Itās certainly an...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was there the other night with my partner, he is a vegetarian and ordered veg Noddles and a main. He found more than 1 piece of chicken in his veg Noddles which is beyond disgraceful and so easily avoided if proper care and use of colour coding was implemented in the kitchen. As someone who works in the food industry I know there is no excuse it's just pure lack of consideration for peoples choices and lazy chefs. I wouldn't advice anyone who is vegetarian or vegan to go here as they clearly don't care about dietary restrictions. They didn't even tell the kitchen either and barely an apology. Very poor service all around
This happened Sunday evening the 21st of August. We were served by a women with a straight black hair in a bob shoulder length style. Very unhelpful and not friendly at all
We did let the staff know he was vegetarian. That's why he ordered the tofu mains.. We were sitting down the back with empty tables all around us, wasn't that busy. He said it was fine he didn't need a replacement bowl of veg noodles, one replacement bowl of Noddles was all that was offered. And since his veggie option wasn't vegetarian why would he want to risk it again. It's so easy to make sure that cross contamination doesn't happen of the proper training and consideration is taken. Again any vegetarians or vegans should...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTook the family here with no reservation on a Saturday night n July. It was only 6pm but the place was jammed and was clearly very kid-friendly at that time. We were quickly seated near a loud baby and had a long wait to take our order.
From then the service was very good. We ordered edamame (5/5), chicken thigh yakitori (5/5), and tempura (3/5). Some of the tempura was burnt and they didn't have much variety in our double-order vegetables. The tempura shrimp were okay (3/5) but compared to how sweet and succulent they were at Zakura Izakaya during a recent trip to Dublin they seemed average.
For mains we got a variety of sushi including a sashimi selection (5/5), unagi nigiri (4/5), spider roll (4/5), california roll (5/5), eel/cucumber roll (4/4), & cucumber rolls (5/5),. All in all, it was good not great. If you are craving sushi it will definitely scratch that itch and maybe this wasn't their best night. The tell for me is the sashimi which was fresh, tender, and delicious! Best part of the meal for me by far. I'd certainly come back but can't stretch to give...
