Five of us went for the lunch buffet on a busy Sunday afternoon. One of our group was vegetarian and we had troubles with the orders.
We made sure to note that my friend was vegetarian and asked for the vegetarian dishes to be separate from the meat ones. This was not done on more than one round of order and we had to send back dishes that she could not eat.
We received the wrong order on one occasion which we also sent back.
My friend ordered a vegetarian spring roll which she discovered had chicken in it after taking a bite.
We were most disappointed at the initial reaction of one of the staff who said that the due to business, it was missed that the order was vegetarian. She did not apologize or acknowledge the damage to my friend.
One of her colleagues came over a little while later who was apologetic when she heard the situation. She replied that the kitchen department was separate from the service department and that as different servers were taking orders, it was easy for requests/special instructions to be missed.
As for the price, they initially offered 20% off for my friend's portion which was 13 euros. She stated that my friend still ate some dishes which needed to be charged. However my friend explained that she had been a vegetarian for 13 years and she felt the 3 euros off her bill was not fair given she had been served meat despite telling the staff numerous times that she was vegetarian. In the end, they were kind enough to allow her part of the bill be free as compensation.
The purpose of this review is not to blame or diminish the service. More so, we feel better systems of communication particularly between the service and kitchen department need to be put in place such that errors like this do not reoccur. This would be particularly important during busy times when mistakes are more likely to occur.
Furthermore, we felt much better when the error was acknowledged and a sincere apology was offered.
On a positive note, the rest of us enjoyed our meals...
Read moreFound this place while I was walking around waterford city centre. Saw they had an all you can eat option. It was for the sushi and Chinese starters. You can then pick one of about 10 or so different mains. The sushi was nice and fresh. I got two norimani with spicy beef and tempura chicken. I also opted for a spring roll, chicken wings and spicy chilli chicken. You have to write these down on an order sheet.
When the food hot food came it was quite a lot. I didn't say anything at the time and thought I had maybe misread the amount. Turns out in the end they had misread my 1 for a 4 and so have me a huge amount of the spicy chilli chicken and chicken wings and 4 spring rolls. The spicy chilli chicken was just deep fried lumps of breaded chicken that was quite dry with a seasoning on it. The chicken wings were breaded also. I'm not a fan of those. The spring rolls were good. I felt I had to try and eat all of the spring rolls and chicken wings as it was before I discovered that they had made the mistake. This is unfortunate as it would have liked to have tried the other sushi. They were good about it when they released they had misread it and I wasn't charged for the waste. I also got the beef curry and fried rice with it as the main. It was the same as you would get in most Chinese restaurants. The beef was a soft and chewy. Otherwise it was OK. I definitely try it again next time I'm in town and just more clear about what I had ordered! The service was good there and they even have a little machine you can call the waiters on too. €14.90 for the all you eat was...
Read moreWe reserved a table and there were 8 of us. It was absolute mayhem for the buffet, we filled out the menus for starters and mains. As there was a couple and a family ordering separately but the same table noone knew whos food was whos. The starters came out first and then as the table was full of food they carried on bringing out mains all withing 5 minutes of eachother. To the point I had one hand to eat and another hand holding plates. But still plates being brought out. So I had to tell them to stop. The mains were going cold as we were eating the starters. It was absolute manic, we had asked for starters to be brought out first but due to the waitress misunderstanding and also saying both cards must be done together all organisation went out the window. They definitely cant cope with larger parties of people. They did show a sign of good faith and Hopefully next time we go back albiet with less people we might have a better experience. The sushi was mostly nice however my partner had shell in his tempura prawn sushi roll, the chicken wings had no seasoning and very bland. They only offer soy sauce from the bottle. Again not seasoned, no chilli, spring onion. No sweet chilli sauce. So again very dissapointing. No noodles are offered on the buffet menu. Sweet and sour chicken was very bland but rice was lovely. There's so much room for improvement with...
