Bar Trinacria — Restaurant in Agrigento

A great little bar in Agrigento, especially if you have some food allergies.

Pros: Gluten free (also some lactose free and egg free) items from Cutia (in my opinion, the best desserts in Sicily) so everyone can enjoy a pastry at the same bar Excellent coffee (Zicaffè - second only to Illy, in my opinion) Friendly staff (they cleaned a table for us to stand at even though it was busy, and they didn’t get upset with my lack of fluency in Italian)

Cons: Average Sicilian bar bathroom (lacking paper, a door lock, etc) No real seating Cutia pastries are frozen (they will warm up the cornetto or tavola calda items in the microwave)

All in all, a great experience. I’d rather have a fresh pastry that was frozen a few days ago than nothing while my friends all eat. Plus, it saves me a drive to Grotte to get an exquisite desserts And it’s tough to complain about the bathroom or lack of seating when all the bars here are like that.

I recommend it, and I’ll surely end up becoming a regular customer. I’ll add some photos...

É domenica, ci rechiamo al bar per fare colazione. Io sono intollerante al lattosio, mi avvicino al bancone e leggo il libro degli ingredienti dei prodotti esposti. Resto stupito dal fatto che molti sono senza lattosio! Scelgo una briosche e, PER FORTUNA, chiedo conferma che fosse senza lattosio; Mi viene detto che dato che é domenica tutti i prodotti contengono lattosio (???) e che se voglio posso mangiarmi il biscottino imbustato (senza glutine e lattosio). Se non avessi chiesto conferma sarei stato malissimo! Questo avrebbe compromesso il viaggio di ritorno, di 9 ore! O fate i prodotti sempre allo stesso modo o mettete un avviso dove la domenica tutti i prodotti contengono lattosio (cosa di cui ancora non capisco il senso). Aggiungo che avevamo ordinato 30 cannuoli da portate a casa e quindi con ricotta separata. Abbiamo pagato anche la granella di pistacchio e le gocce di cioccolato ma tornati a casa abbiamo scoperto che questi due ingredienti non erano presenti... forse perché...
