ZAZÀ Bottega Bistrot is a true gem tucked away on the quaint main street of Agrigento. This family-run restaurant, led by a warm and attentive hostess and a passionate, talented head chef, delivered one of the most memorable dining experiences we’ve had in Sicily.

From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the restaurant’s aesthetic—warm lighting illuminating a striking stone wall, traditional Sicilian ornaments artfully placed throughout, and a beautifully presented outdoor area lined with potted lemon trees, soft lighting, and a touch of intimacy that set the tone for a special evening. We chose to dine inside near the large glass façade, enjoying the balance of modern design and authentic Sicilian charm.

We were warmly welcomed and offered an amuse-bouche: a squid ink arancini with pumpkin and verde purée—an elegant and delicious way to begin our meal. Complimentary house bread and olive oil, of course, followed, a hallmark of genuine Sicilian hospitality. We paired our dinner with a glass of 2024 Kikè from Cantine Fina, which complemented the seafood beautifully.

For antipasti, we enjoyed the polpo e ceci and tartare di tonno. The octopus was delicately smoked and melt-in-your-mouth tender, paired perfectly with a creamy chickpea purée. The tuna tartare was fresh and vibrant, elevated by the bright zing of citrus and capers.

Our primi were equally impressive: nero e ricci—a rich, complex dish of al dente cuttlefish ink tagliolini with sea urchin—and busiate con triglia, a traditional Trapanese pasta with mullet, enriched with toasted breadcrumbs and raisins for a touch of sweetness and crunch. Both dishes were expertly crafted and beautifully presented.

We finished with a shared tiramisu, plated with a modern twist but made in the traditional way—with mascarpone, not cream (you really can taste the difference!). My wife proclaimed it the best she’s ever had—after her mother’s, naturally.

The evening was rounded off with a thoughtful offer of a digestivo or coffee, a kind and authentic gesture that reflects the genuine hospitality at ZAZÀ.

From the food to the service to the ambiance, every element exceeded our expectations. You can tell the chef is meticulous, passionate, and committed to delivering an outstanding experience. Although newly opened, this restaurant already stands out as one of the best in Agrigento. We happily gave 5 stars and would highly recommend ZAZÀ Bottega Bistrot to anyone seeking an exceptional, authentic, and elevated Sicilian dining experience.

We wanted to like this place. The antipasti, primi and secondi were very very good. However the tiramisu was atrocious. It was "made in the moment" as the chef claimed. However I've never had a crunchy tiramisu and it was not good. They may as well just have served us the savoiardi biscuits from the pack. When we complained to the waiter, he was dismissive.

The chef later came out to ring up our bill and offered to comp us our dessert and crossed it out on our bill. He then proceeded to type in the original bill amount on the payment machine! We were not given a print out of the card machine receipt, we only noticed the difference when we checked our bank statement. To lie and cheat us over a small thing is incredibly pretty behaviour.

The other downside was the overall service. Perhaps because we came on a Sunday and in August, but we had made a booking. The waitress tried to move us to dessert after we finished our primi, even though we had secondi/mains. The waiter forgot half our drinks and it was difficult to flag him down to ask for them, despite it not being that busy.

Double check your card charges here and avoid the tiramisu! In fact, surely there are better restaurants in Agrigento to spend...

My wife and I just returned to our lovely room at the wonderful Domus Terravecchia, Agrigento from dinner at Zahá Bottega Bistrot. We shared the wonderful Beef Tartare Di Manzo for starters - perfect portion size for 2. We then had Paccheri Al Ragú di Tonno and Branzino (Sea Bass) with very fresh mixed salad side. It was truly delicious and we savoured every bite. The flavours and nuances of of each dish were amazing and complimented with 2 different white wine choices. We shared a generous and moist Tiramisu to finish off the perfect dining experience. All in all, an amazing evening - you will not be disappointed and the service was...
