On holiday with my boyfriend and found La Lucerna around the corner from our AirBnB - we were dressed quite casually as we were just going for a walk and spontaneously decided to eat there.
At first it was lovely, the staff were friendly and seemed genuinely nice…. Until our food came and the more we observed our surroundings.
My boyfriend ordered a Linguine with Prawns and I ordered a ravioli, the server happily took our order. However when our food arrived, he was served a Linguine with Clams. We said this isn’t what we ordered and we were met with a “shrimps? We don’t have” accompanied with a condescending smile and no further explanation, nor were we told prior about the kitchen not having any shrimps. About 10 minutes later, a big bowl of mixed seafood (with pasta) comes out of the kitchen (the kitchen door is in front of our table so I saw the plate and there was A LOT of shrimps in it. So we were lied to. I’m not sure if it was because we were brown and foreign, but the “friendly, accommodating” service they portrayed to deliver along with the lie about the food - albeit a little lie, but it’s the dishonesty and the judgement we received from the staff.
The Chef even came out to LOOK at us as if we were a circus act then when he went back into the kitchen, just shook his head with disapproval, other staff members also kept giving us weird judgemental looks. Not sure if it’s Sardinia in general that do not know how to act around non-white people or because we were dressed casually, but I genuinely would not recommend if you fall under this category. They probably thought we didn’t have money lol.
The food was lovely but the way the staff made us feel was rude and disrespectful. It’s like a meeting the most beautiful human in the world but they turn out to have a terrible personality - it...
Read moreI would have given 3 stars but for the service as an average pizza restaurant. We visited here twice during our stay in Alghero due to proximity to accommodation. The first night, we just shared a pizza as it was just a 'filler' but the pizza was tasty. The second night (Sat), we perused the menu child ordered pizza, 1 adult ordered fried calamari and second adult tried to order 4 different mains to be told, we don't have that.. no veal, no mussels, no grilled calamari and no beef. The waitress appeared impatient. We then decided to share the calamari and order a mixed salad side. All arrived, it was tasty. The bread was fresh from the oven and very lovely. As soon as one finished, they arrived to take the plate and so on as someone else finished. I asked for dessert menu and was told they had but one dessert so declined. I asked for the bill as we finished our wine, they came to collect it a few times but as we were not finished our drinks we asked them to wait. The impatience was palpable. There were empty tables so I don't know why they felt they need to make us feel uncomfortable. Would not return for...
Read moreThis seems to be one of those places where locals get their quality food. A fantastic pizzeria, 71 types of pizza in the menu. People walk in, eat or take away - a constant move, but such a delightful and authentic energy. We tried the Delicata and Braccio di Ferro, both were amazing, you should also ask for the oglio piccante which is both tasty and spicy. Prices are extremely fair and friendly. Just get in, get a pizza and enjoy the "music...
