Worst dining experience ever in Alghero. Don't be taken in by the friendly woman in the red dress who finds you a table. It's all downhill after that: Surly waitress, 50 minute wait for food. Tagliatelli with prawn actually means you get just one prawn on the dish. They throw in a prawn's head too to make it look like more. 14 euros for a small plate of pasta with one prawn! 22 euros for a fritto misto which was 3 mussels, 3 small prawns, 2 tiny pieces of fish and then padded with frozen calamari. Then the experience got a whole lot worse. Having summoned the manager to complain, the head waiter/manager/owner came over and he suggested we leave without paying in a tone which included shouting, swearing and extreme aggression. On leaving he followed us out with a henchman, threatened to call the police (quite why we'll never know) and continued to swear at us in both English and Italian, which I can understand. We'd been to this place 4 years ago and only had a dull pizza then (also with bad service) but thought perhaps after the shock of having no business for a couple of years they might have improved. Fat chance it was even worse. Best...
Read moreSuch an amazing restaurant. The food is delicious with great staff, always smiling and super welcoming. We stayed in Alghero 5 days and came to this restaurant 3 nights in a row, safe to say we enjoyed it! We tried the shellfish pasta (both vongole and algherese, both were delicious and big portions), the ravioli (my boyfriend enjoyed it the most and highly recommends it), and of course the paella algherese which was just truly divine. The seafood is fresh and beautifully presented. Deserts were to die for and the wine selection was endless. Decorations inside are beautiful and very cozy, with a beautiful outside terrace placed around a cute fountain (perfect for warm evenings). I simply cannot recommend this restaurant enough and will definitely be coming back the next time we will visit Alghero. A big thanks to the staff and the cooks for this magical experience !...
Read moreMe and my family have been dining almost yearly, at La Pergola since visiting Alghero for the first time in 2002. Alghero’s finest restaurant, beautiful interiors and surroundings makes you real comfortably. Add the fantastic and delicate food along, with the superfriendly and serviceminded staff - this decades historic restaurant is the place to go. Fantastic burgers and fries, great pizza, also for the takeaway - before 19.30 that is, ice cold drinks and white wine of the house for my taste. They used to have the best fillet of steak in green peppercorn sauce on the meny also - this was sorely missed this year. With fries, this was the best meat dish in all of Alghero. But rest assure - we will be back summer of 24…You like your pizza topping strong? Try Pizza Diavola - the strongest I’ve ever tasted…Absolutely high end quality on everything here, so fresh and...
