I was yesterday in your restaurant in Porto Cervo. We mainly ordered food with a side dish, which came first and the side dish arrived 15-20 minutes later. The meat was cold. I tried to explain it to the waiter politely that my meat was cold and I didn't have a side dish yet. He was very rude and arrogant and grabbed my meat and took it to the back. In the meantime, the side dish arrived and the meat was nowhere to be found. We waited 10 minutes for the meat again with just the side dish. When I called the waiter, he arrogantly asked me if I had a problem with the cold side dish again. I asked him if he also eats the side dish without the meat. Every waiter there looked at us and acted distant after the waiter who served us scolded us. He asked me if this was my first time in a restaurant, as if I didn't know how it works. This summer I was at Zuma in Cannes, Mykonos, Dubai and Bodrum. Since I live in Dubai, I visit Zuma regularly but this was worst customer service I had. Unfortunately when I was with my mother on her birthday which was by big part ruined because of behavior of your employee. We wanted to continue with dessert, some sushi and drinks, but after such an experience we lost our appetite and left. For this arrogant approach the waiter charged 30€ tringelt, and for the parking lot from which we could not even leave because it was poorly organized you count 35€. The worst experience in my life and a waste of money for me, because I ate cold food with an arrogant approach. Oh, what a delightful experience it was at their "amazing" restaurant! I mean, who doesn't love a bad table when you book it a month a for a special occasion …? It's like a special treat for those who enjoy wobbling their plates and testing their balance skills while trying to eat. And let's not forget the lost waiters - it's like playing a real-life game of Where's Waldo, but with your food!
Now, let's talk about the food. Prepare to be totally amazed by the sheer mediocrity! The flavors were so boring, they could put an insomniac to sleep. And if you thought you were in Italy, think again! Everyone there mysteriously forgot how to speak Italian, but don't worry, their confused expressions and incorrect coffee orders will surely make up for it.
But wait, it gets even better! Have you ever had the pleasure of asking six times for Tabasco sauce? It's like a secret initiation ritual, testing your patience and determination to spice up your tasteless meal. And just when you thought you had enough, get ready for the wine chase! Five attempts to get a single glass of wine? Who needs a drink when you can play hide-and-seek with the staff?
Oh, and let's not forget the highlight of the evening: the management's filmmaking aspirations! Who needs attentive service when you can watch them turn your dining experience into a thrilling reality show? Move over, Gordon Ramsay, these folks are the next big thing in cinematic gastronomy.
How splendid it was to be unwilling stars of a dinner-time docudrama! Cameras rolling, flashbulbs popping - all unasked for - truly took intrusive dining to a whole new level. And the management? Busy chasing Hollywood dreams instead of providing service. If you fancy an unsolicited reality TV experience over a quiet meal, this place is a sarcastic toast to you. Cheers!
The experience took a further dive when one particularly lost waiter informed us that the "dégustation menu", priced at a lofty 230 for everyone at the table .. comprised of 3 starters and 3 main not ‘selling well’ dishes from the ‘à la carte’ regular one .
The quantities served in each course, however, were so substantial, one could realistically walk away with enough leftovers to fill not a doggie bag, but a "tiger bag". This shocking revelation added another layer of extreme confusion to an already baffling dining experience.
So, my dear friend, if you have a penchant for confusion and disappointment, by all means, give this place a try. But if you prefer your taste buds to be entertained elsewhere, I suggest exploring the wonders of Pescatore, Le Grand, Matsushita, Scogliera, or garden pedri. Because life is too short to waste on subpar tables, lost waiters, and food that leaves you yearning for something, anything, more satisfying. ...
Read moreOur experience at Zuma was disappointing, primarily due to the service. Our waiter, Lorenzo, "offered" to walk us through the menu while another waitress was simultaneously assisting my sister with the drink list. This created confusion, as we had two servers speaking to us individually. Meanwhile, the couple beside us had to ask to be served.
Whenever I mentioned to Lorenzo that we should wait for my sister's opinion, he would automatically add items to our order without consulting her. I had to ask him to slow down and wait, as my sister found his approach too fast and pushy. There was no language barrier, so his hurried manner seemed deliberate. For example, he grabbed our finished bottle of water and started to bring another without asking if we wanted it, forcing us to stop him quickly. His behavior gave the impression that he was trying to inflate our bill.
At the end of the meal, Lorenzo split our bill and, without showing the POS machine, asked if I wanted to add a tip. This felt tacky and inappropriate. High-end restaurants in Sardegna never ask for a tip in this manner; instead, customers leave cash tips voluntarily. Lorenzo pressured me to specify a percentage and then assumed my sister wanted to leave the same amount, adding it to her bill without informing us. This practice is unacceptable in North America, where the POS machine is handed to each customer to decide the tip amount independently.
Additionally, the food was not worth the price. The 25€ lobster bun was mostly mayonnaise and unappetizing. The tofu salad had crisp edges but was bland inside, and the sushi rolls were mediocre. The overall experience felt like a rip-off, more suited for an Instagram photo than a quality dining experience.
When we raised these issues, even the manager seemed unresponsive. Instead of rectifying the situation appropriately, they refunded my sister in cash instead of back onto her credit card, prioritizing their convenience over proper customer service. This entire experience was frustrating and unsatisfactory.
We will never visit another Zuma location and will advise our friends to avoid it as well. Sardegna has many better dining options with superior food and service that do not resort to such...
