On the morning of October 25, our first morning in Assisi, we had an activity to do and our group of 4 decided to check out places we could eat after our activity. We walked into this restaurant and said it looked delicious and we would come back after our activity. However, we decided not to come back here anymore because of an unfortunate event that happened. As we were leaving, a man, an employee or the owner, shouted insults at us in Italian and told us in English "Go away!" He probably thought we were leaving because we found the food presented to be bad, when that is not the case at all. He immediately had an idea of us and therefore decided to shout at us without us provoking him. Gerard and his wife run this lovely little cafe opposite San Rufino Cathedral surrounded by flowers. Friendly, excellent service and open all day.
The cappuccino is hot with the frothiest milk. And if you want it decaffeinated with soy milk at 3pm in the afternoon, no problem!!
My favourite is Caffe latte doppio (double milky coffee) served in a giant glass mug steaming hot!! Not lukewarm like the usual offering in many other cafes.
