On the morning of October 25, our first morning in Assisi, we had an activity to do and our group of 4 decided to check out places we could eat after our activity. We walked into this restaurant and said it looked delicious and we would come back after our activity. However, we decided not to come back here anymore because of an unfortunate event that happened. As we were leaving, a man, an employee or the owner, shouted insults at us in Italian and told us in English "Go away!" He probably thought we were leaving because we found the food presented to be bad, when that is not the case at all. He immediately had an idea of ​​us and therefore decided to shout at us without us provoking him. This behavior was totally unacceptable and unworthy, especially in the city of Saint Francis of Assisi, Saint Clare of Assisi and Blessed Carlo Acutis. He lost four clients because of his...

My favourite cafe in Assisi.

Gerard and his wife run this lovely little cafe opposite San Rufino Cathedral surrounded by flowers. Friendly, excellent service and open all day.

The cappuccino is hot with the frothiest milk. And if you want it decaffeinated with soy milk at 3pm in the afternoon, no problem!!

My favourite is Caffe latte doppio (double milky coffee) served in a giant glass mug steaming hot!! Not lukewarm like the usual offering in many other cafes.

No better place in town! Tucked in a quiet corner of Piazza San Ruffino, away from the crowds. A charming atmospheric little place, indoor/outdoor seating. The torta al testo is superior. Although I’ve tried several other places in town in my 4 days here, in all price categories, and many quite good, I keep coming back here …breakfast, lunch and dinner. A traditional bar caffè with solidly good Umbrian food and hospitality, places like this are what makes travel in Italy...
