La Bella Stazione - Fraz.S.M.degli Angeli — Restaurant in Assisi

I've been to the train station probably 100 times in my 6 years here in Assisi. Our visit to 'il ristorante' La Bella Stazione on Sunday was not only the first time I've esten there, but also the first time I realized where it was, upstairs from the train station. The people were very welcoming and kind, as was the service they offered. They have a diverse menu, but I opted for a pizza and it did not disappoint. They sell ceramic items and gifted the ladies in our group with a sample. They also served us chocolate, 'fatto a casa'. (homemade), which they also have to us. We had a great meal with friendly service and very reasonable prices. My stuffed pasta with a porcini sauce topped with fresh grated truffle was delicious and my wife loved her chicken breast with a butter sage sauce. We saw many large portioned plates of food going by to smiling customers which made for a happy ambiance. The meal was finished with two of the best macchiatos we've had in Italy. My one personal regret is that I would order a specific wine. A weird experience. The waiter just told us in the moment we get there "We don't sell pizza here" ,we said we would like to eat pasta or any dish they have. He said "if someone wants pasta the other HAVE to ask for the same, we don't have time for complications". We also agree to this. We paid $27 for each dish (less than 2 table spoons) of pasta with pomodoro sauce (just plain tomato with salt, not even basilico or pepper).
