We were recommended to Unikum by a friend and we were not only not disappointed….we were really impressed. Probably the best - and certainly the most inventive - meal we have had during our 4 months here this summer. We were very warmly welcomed, received great advice as to wine selection, and our palates were immediately treated to delicious amuse-bouche of delicately prepared quail eggs, homemade breads, prosciutto. Using fresh, mostly local ingredients (fish being exception to “local”) Unikum offers a creative interpretation - marinated ricciola, an unusual risotto , pasta with rabbit….followed by spigola for two of us and maialino for the others. Portions were generous and all dishes were exceptional. Also try their most unusual take on tiramisu! The space is modern and chic - very comfortable (only suggestion is to dim the lighting a bit). As I entered I was greeted very pleasantly by the woman who ended up being the server and, if the picture in the bar area was telling a tale, was the wife or girlfriend of the chef. I expected mediocre tourist fare tonight as well, but was delighted that the chef created cuisine that sings! I couldn't believe my tastebuds as I savored each and every bite. The porchetta had such a depth of flavor with a rich but not overdone amount. I actually ate every bite including the amazing roast potatoes. How did he get them to sparkle in my mouth? Even the simple mista salad was varied with 3 different colored tomatoes. People need to come to this place and have a real culinary experience....

The 4 of us loved our lunch and tried a range of dishes from the Explosion of Summer fragrances to the Scorpion Fish Gnocchetti 🤩 not forgetting the Asparagus risotto. We then moved on to the mains and had some delicious Sea bass, Turbot and also slow cooked Lamb! Didn’t manage a dessert, unfortunately. Will go for that next time!!!
