Essenza Cibo Lento — Restaurant in Barletta

The restaurant is just perfect! The food was incredible, they even bake there own bread for the Crostinis (different kind for each variety of Crostini offered!). I had the one with stracciatella and anchovies and it was perfectly balanced... crunchy, creamy and salty. The pasta with the Clams and Calamari was very good aswell.

The waitress and the cook were extremely nice and forthcoming, even though I was eating alone (I had different experiences in other places in Italy, were I sometimes felt forgotten in the corner I was seated).

The surrounding was in an historic building and there were many paintings on the walls. I learned later, that they even have live music and jam sessions in the winter time. If I come sometimes back in this area, I would definitely make a detour to...

My wife and I visited here based upon previous reviews and we weren't disappointed. It’s a husband and wife team who are both very passionate about their restaurant with the husband taking care of the food and the wife running the front of house.

The foot was very traditional and amazing value… We picked the squid and the sausage. Both were excellent and accompanied by exceptional sourdough breads baked on the premises. Their wines were also amazing with the house white being a particular highlight.

We got here completely by accident the first time - it turned out to be a bull's-eye! I ate an item from the menu, but my wife couldn't really find something for herself, so the owners offered to make something especially for her. Great approach and atmosphere - so much so that we went back there for the second time on the last day of being in Barletta. Again, it was delicious, service at the highest level. First of all, I recommend the pasta with octopus - Europeans, fear not, it's just chicken of the sea! 🐔

To say goodbye, I got a shot of home-made alcohol - which made me fall in love with this place again!
