i came in when they were not busy, but they seemed annoyed by my presence. I am not a local and I do not know their menu or their customs, and they did not offer any orientation. I tried to order something to eat and was given something much different than i tried to request. 18 euro for 8 smal pieces of toast with mozzarella and a salty anchovy from a can on each piece No garnish, pomodoro, etc. The presentation was basic, no color and not even a napkin or a fork. I fetched my own from the counter. The taste was ok, but not great. I asked for anchovies in alici, which would have gine down much more easily. As for the wine it was good, not great, and they have a limited selection available by the glass - my request for vermentino was rejected, for example, and they pour a shallow glass, 8 euro if you order the special, more if you get something else. Overall it was disappointing.

If you want a polished tourist trap, go to one of the restaurants by Basilica di San Petronio. If you want a rustic wine bar with a great selection of wine by the glass, and a small selection of well made dishes, come here. 10 year old Barolo by the glass ( you could never find in the states!), as well as a killer Amarone. If you are a wine lover, you need to come here. Seriously. Great selection of bottles to purchase as well. Traditional, small selection of food. Staff all look like they have been here since the mid 70s since they opened. Lots of locals coming in chatting with them. They speak English and are more than willing to help you select something. (Pictured: Barolo, Amarone, stuffed rabbit (Coniglio Ripieno)

The place where I’ve returned probably 30 times within couple of months and where I’m absolutely happy to spend entire salary 😅 Very authentic, truly Italian place. Not touristic one which gives even more stars for this place. Prices, people - everything is amazing. You can eat and drink here as well as you won’t be able to leave without a bottle (or even two) for your home collection. You can find very rare pieces here for a very fair price. You can also get the most professional help from the stuff - they will help you to find any wine, any drink (yes, they have an insane gin collection as well! And vermouths! And liquors!) for any occasion in your life.
