Osteria delle Donzelle — Restaurant in Bologna

This is truly a hidden gem of Bologna! Tucked away in a backstreet alleyway and down a flight of stairs into an old wine cellar is Osteria delle Donzelle. There you will find excellent pasta dishes, delicious meat and local fare. We had the zucca tortelloni, wild boar, pheasant, and the mascarpone dessert. Every dish we were wowed and amazed at how delicious and delicately cooked it was. We arrived right at opening, and were able to get a table without reservations. However, once it got closer to 8 PM, the people started to pour in. I would recommend calling for a reservation ahead of time. We would highly recommend this location for a special occasion meal, or a wonderful, larger dinner to get the full taste and experience of what Bologna...

The service at Osteria delle Donzelle in Bologna was impeccable. The waiter created a warm and welcoming atmosphere, making us feel right at home. The food was undeniably tasty, especially their special Gramigna with ragù bolognese.

However, the main downside was the overwhelming quantity of the dishes. For instance, I received a whopping 350g of pasta, and while delicious, the portions were too large, leaving me feeling obligated to finish it to avoid waste. It's advisable to avoid eating anything beforehand if planning to dine here. Great little place with indoor/downstairs and outdoor fresco dining. We went for lunch and both ordered the "Menù Bolognese" for €15 + €1.5 coperto/cover charge. It includes water/coffee, tigelle breads with a mix of cheeses and cold meats - DELICIOUS! You could definitley just order this on its own. Then you also select another dish from 5 options - we chose tagliatelle al ragù. It was very tasty, perhaps a little too al dente for me, but that's just personal choice.
