After finishing 100 miles by bicycle today from Piacenza, my cycling buddy and I took a taxi into Bologna to find a restaurant for dinner. Needless to say we were famished. Ristorante Il Saraceno looked decent enough so we grabbed a table. Wow! We chose well. What a terrific meal. Antipasti were terrific. Pasta was prepared to absolute perfection. Of course we had to share a pizza. Outstanding. And to top it all off we had a great waiter who gave good recommendations. A 100% fantastic experience and all for a reasonable price. I would go back in a minute any time I am back in beautiful Bologna. Keep up the good work. Clearly this restaurant takes pride in the quality of the food they serve!!! Grazie mille ragazzi. Oh, I forgot to mention we polished off a wonderful bottle of Nero d’avolo and a couple of beers with the pizza! All...
Read moreVisiting from New York City, we came across Saraceno while walking around Bologna. We were looking for a good dinner and thats what we got. We did not expect the absolutely amazing experience that went along with it. We had the Tasting Menu which is €45 a person. This was the most well worth it meal I have ever had. In New york, with this quality it would be $120 a person. It is a Family run business with the Mother working the Bar. The Son, Mateo, the waiter, had given us one of the best restaurant experiences ever. We spent more time at this restaurant than in Venice. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. If you are in bologna and are looking for a beautiful dinner with amazing atmosphere please make your way down. You will...

Which we did. So.... Really lovely pizza all round and great bottle of wine and a charming waiter from Montenegro studying at the University. The owner was great. The four stars instead of 5 is a brit thing due to the air con not counteracting the pizza oven. Off the beaten track slightly, full of Italians, this is a great visit. The seafood dishes looked amazing. Best value for money we'd had in...
