Other reviewers noted how the prices and the atmosphere of this old style Italian restaurant are a bit out of sync with the reality of the place. I was pleasurably impressed by the menu: a triumph of typical Italian dishes, with no compromise to the wave of fusion cuisine that is besieging restaurants these days. We ordered Tortellini and a Spaghetti allo Scoglio. The Tortellini did not disappoint, as one would expect from such a restaurant, but the real surprise were the spaghetti: we surely had low expectations for a place so far from the sea, and were surprised by how good they turned out to be. Service was friendly and made us feel at home, if a bit too informal for a restaurant of this level. Open wines choice was diminutive (a red and a white wine, without more information) and what we had was an average and anonymous white wine. Read moreIf you are an American do not go to this restaurant.thereis clear bias against Americans. Every Italalia. Gets a warm greeting but we got nothing even though we were visiting family. Dinner in less than 45 minutes. We were just had our wine delivered and our anti-pasta was serve red. We were half way through our anti-pasta when it was taken away and our main course was served.
All this while others who came after us were given time to enjoy. All the while the owner was treating ang kissing all visitors but wouldn’t even look at us. And the sad thing is that my wife and I are Italian and we’re visiting our family. Even the waiter and guests next to us apologized for our horrible treatment. Plus the food was sub-par.
Don’t let theses small minded people ruin your visit to a great country with great people. Instead eat at the...
Read moreWe had a superb lunch at this restaurant. From the moment I arrived to ask if they had space (without a reservation), the staff were friendly and welcoming (something we hadn't experienced in a nearby osteria we were turned away from!). They were also extremely accommodating of our 6-month old daughter and buggy. Service throughout the meal was helpful, and again, friendly and engaging.
The food was flawless. Everything we ate was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Ingredients are clearly of a very high quality, and the chefs know how to work with them. The wine was similarly delicious and very reasonably priced.
