I've visited this establishment about 5 times in one year. It seems to have changed ownership recently. The food is usually good but unfortunately the staff are unprofessional and amateurs, and the lack of quality can also be traced to the pizzaioli. I ordered a pizza 3 days ago and ordered extra garlic - lot of it - being very clear to the waiter. This costs 50 cents and worked without problems the time before. When the pizza arrived I could almost not see a trace of the garlic. I told the young waiter - now another one with less than optimal attitude - and he nearly put his fingers into the pizza when he wanted to point out to me where the near invisible specs of garlic was. I told him to stop and just bring more garlic. Then nothing happened. He ignored me. So after a few minutes I had to go to the pizzaiolo and get the garlic myself, leaving my pizza to get colder. The pizzaiolo, also a young guy, was busy being on his phone and only slowly reacted to my request. And when he did give me a few spoons of garlic, he absolutely drenched it in olive oil for some reason, making it more difficult to get it out of the little cup because I had no spoon. So a little request became an unpleasant experience because the staff just didn't listen to what I was saying. How difficult is it to just bring a cup of some chopped garlic? Since I'm paying for it anyway? Another time I was there I had a pizza with too little tomato sauce. It was just tomato color. So I had to tell the young waiter to get me some more sauce. And he did, but the sauce was fridge cold and thus made my pizza cold in an instant! So this shows lack of professionalism and the importance of making a dish correct from the start. In the case of the garlic I was offered a limoncello as a compensation but I had to ask for the garlic cost of 50 cents to be removed from the tab, which was granted with some grumbling. This thing is maybe not the whole world but it shows that the staff is not paying due attention to the customer. In general restaurants in Italy aren't used to customers complaining about anything because Italians are proud and prefer not to show that they are discontent with service as it would make them appear shameful. Also restaurant staff can be arrogant and believing themselves to be faultless. I'm NOT saying this is what happened here, but in general it can be the case in Italy. Apart from this the pizzas and ambience in Picceré is quite pleasant and I hope to return...
Read moreThey changed the menu, so now there is very less pasta included. Spaghetti at best. The pizzas were nice. Service was fast. We got seated without reservation and without waiting time. The deco of the place is ok, modern and spacious. My experience at this place was ruined the moment no one from staff spoke German and their English was very basic. I asked for a menu in other language than Italian and they simply dont have one. The response from the waiter: You have to translate with your phone. How am I supposed to experience the place or even order when the customer doesnt understand the menu? Do they tell this to tourists too? Elders without a phone? People without internet to translate? Wow, such lack of empathy. They have a QR code in the table that says they have English or German menu, but when you scan it and click on English Menu on the site, it still shows the Italian one. The food was decent, but this place is an example of how you can have all the infrastructure in place to have a good product, but a simple detail can ruin the experience that you try to sell. Never coming back, there are a number of places that provide the same style of food, so nothing that...
Read moreI cannot take it out of my mind the complete lack of service and even empathy, considering they made a quite grave mistake: they drenched me in the drinks we ordered. I am not talking about some drops, my blouse was soaked and so was my pants lap. This happened because the waiter angled his tray and the drink on top fell on me. It was clearly an accident and I didn't want him to feel bad. I would have been mortified in his place. Plus, as we arrived from a 4 hour trip, I had other clothes with me and I could change so I didn't make a fuss. Still, I barely received a "sorry", no discount on the bill or a free drink, not even the waiving of the mandatory service fee (!), or anything that I would consider the minimum for the trouble. I got a better treatment for much less in other serious establishments. If I didn't have my luggage on me, I would have to stay however long fully wet, sugary and smelling like alcohol (it was an aperol). I had to wash my clothes in my hotel sink. Food at least was...
