Last night, I visited the restaurant Veruska where I hoped to enjoy a peaceful meal, but instead, I was left feeling deeply uncomfortable and unsafe. From the moment I sat down, I noticed the waiters staring at me and laughing amongst each other. Curious and concerned, I inquired about what was so funny, only to be met with dismissive behavior as they walked away, promising to return but never did.

The discomfort escalated when two other man joined the waiters, and their conversation, filled with laughter, which seemed to revolve around me. As a woman dining alone, this environment felt increasingly intimidating. I brought up my discomfort to one of the waiters, hoping for some reassurance or explanation, but my concerns were met with just another laugh.

What was most unsettling was the waiter's repeated attempts to confirm if I was indeed alone. It's disheartening and alarming to feel targeted because of one's gender, especially in a space that should welcome all patrons.
