Unfriendly without compare.
I'm a hobby barista and like to visit roasteries and cafes wherever I am on the planet. Usually I primarily rate the quality of the coffee. Unfortunately here I haven't had the chance:
We wanted to have a breakfast and some good coffees, why we walked quite some distance to get to this place. We had to wait a little longer before we could order, which isn't an issue. Then we learned that they don't serve croissants or similar, why we ordered pancakes instead together with two speciality coffees and a juice. We then we're told in an unfriendly way that the pancakes are not available, only toast, which is not our taste for breakfast nor to go with cappuccino. When we then wanted to stick with the beverages only the man (owner, I assume) told us in an incredibly rude way that made our 4 old daughter cry(!!!) to get up from the little table and go to the bar (Which we didn't, but left instead).
Even if the man had a bad day, which can happen, you can never treat your customers like this. Would give zero stars if I could.
Update: The extraordinary friendly reply (below) does not correlate with the behaviour on site. Even if we didn't see the sign and didn't follow the rules it doesnt justify such treatment. Anyways coffe is about flavour AND experience, not hard rules or similar. This is not the Italian way (the owner obviously...
Read moreWorst cafe ever. I wish I could give it zero. The tables were dirty and the service person was rude and racist. Left without ordering anything.
Edit: after the reply from the owner, I decided to write a long review. But I must say its ironic that they feel offended after mistreating a person. Ideally, they should feel ashamed. To begin with, when I entered the cafe, the person there asked me to take any table. So I took the corner table with 4 chairs. The person screamed from behind the bar and asked me to take a smaller table. I dont mind taking a smaller table but little politeness goes a long way. I took a smaller table in another corner of the cafe. I came to this cafe to work on my laptop since google suggested this cafe as work cafe. The moment I opened the laptop, that person came again and very rudely said, “laptops are not allowed, read the sign.” I was shocked to read that it was a laptop free cafe since they nowhere on their website mentioned that. And even if it was, there is a way to communicate. The way he spoke with me was offensive and rude. I kept my laptop inside and waited for 15 minutes to be served and no one came. I realised, I was the only asian there and he was quite polite with other customers. Seeing this, I left the cafe. If this is not rude and racist,...
Read moreTo be honest, I wouldn’t have chosen this café first, because of the preparation/food styling I saw on photos (there isn’t any 😉). I love when food is arranged with love and some effort / thought. I most of the time do so personally and if I pay money for eating out It’s even more important imho. Buuuut, we went there because there are not many vegan-friendly places for breakfast around and we didn’t regret it. The owner is funny and friendly, great oldschool HipHop music is playing, there are several LGBTIQ and antifa-statements around and the vegan options are clearly labeled. The food options are rather basic and suitable for when you’re not super-hungry (or you decide to eat more than one dish 😉). I chose the coffee maple French toast with banana (8€). And that’s exactly what you get. Two slices of toast, drenched in syrup with banana slices on top. Tastewise pretty good! I put a few pinches of salt on top. Love the sweet-salty combo. My cold brew with oat milk was very yummy, tasted like good quality coffee. Would not say no to a more lush or healthier breakfast option, we e.g. fruits, vegan yogurt or even better some tofu scramble etc. Because options you can choose are all dough-based. The café itself is rather tight,...
