Sa Domu Sarda in Cagliari offers a true taste of Sardinia, blending warm hospitality, rustic charm, and dishes that showcase the island’s rich culinary tradition this one is mostly focused on meat and cheese and less on fish dishes.
The quality of ingredients and attention to detail make this a must-visit spot.
What we enjoyed: •Pane Carasau with Olive Oil: Crispy and light, the perfect start to the meal. •Cavolfiore Soup: A velvety cauliflower soup topped with savory sausage and herbs – comforting and full of flavor. •Seasonal Vegetable Millefeuille: Layers of flatbread with grilled zucchini, peppers, eggplant, and ricotta – vibrant, fresh, and beautifully presented. •Creamy Bean Purée with Sausage: Hearty and balanced, with a velvety texture and perfectly seasoned sausage. •Culurgiones: A standout dish! These traditional Sardinian dumplings filled with potato, pecorino, and mint, topped with a drizzle of olive oil and crushed nuts, were delicate and absolutely delicious. •Fregola with Sausage and Mushrooms: A fantastic, rustic dish – the toasted fregola paired beautifully with earthy mushrooms and flavorful sausage. •Seadas (Traditional Dessert): Fried pastry filled with pecorino cheese and topped with honey – a sweet, tangy delight that ended the meal perfectly.
What didn’t hit the mark: •The Ravioli served as dessert wasn’t to my taste. While I appreciated the effort, I found it too unconventional to enjoy as a sweet dish.
Highlights: •Fresh, high-quality local ingredients •Authentic Sardinian dishes prepared to perfection •Excellent service and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere
If you’re looking for a genuine Sardinian dining experience in Cagliari, Sa Domu Sarda is not to be missed. The culurgiones and fregola are highlights that will transport you to the heart of Sardinia. Highly...
Read moreJuly, 13th in 2025 we have returned to this Restaurant. Our last visit took place in 2024. So it is good to return and to be able to compare these visits. It was good that we have done a Reservation for Dinner. Upon arrival we have heard that all was fully booked. All tables outside and inside were occupied. When entering each of the staff has greated us. Because of this we felt welcome. To get and read the Menu now you need to download it with a QR-CODE. Specials of the day were not available. The Focus of the offered Meals is Meat in many variations. Here you can eat Meat from a Donkey, Horse, Cow and Pig. Vegetable is available. Fine Wines are also offered. We have ordered: 1: Red Ox Bombas ( Meatballs, 13 €) 2: BEEF CARPACCIO (16 €) 3: TIRAMISU (6 €) 4: Aqua Minerale 0,75 (3€) 5: Beer without Alcohol (4€). From the House we received Bread in a Paperbag. We have asked the Waiter for some Butter but we got informed that it isn't available... Coperto was charged with 2,50 € per Person. Inside the tables have had table cloth. The Beef Carpaccio has had several muscels. The 4 Meatballs were tasteless. The used deep plate is uncomfortable for eating it. The Tiramisu was the worst I have ever eaten. They came out of the fridge and were watering and tasteless. If I should have rated it separately I would have given 2 Stars.
The Waiter hasn't asked for Satisfaction. He hasn't cared and hasn't said good bye.
WIFI-INTERNET was available. Payment with American Express was accepted.
After this experience we will not return and I cannot recommend this Restaurant.
For us it was nothing more than average what we can find in many other Restaurants...
Read moreAn unapologetically Sardinian, cosy little gem. The most delicious local food with an exclusively Sardinian wine list. Pecorino cheese, pork, honey and pine nuts make frequent appearances and a special mention goes to the culurgiones (dumplings) dishes. They don't really publish a menu and make what they have and what's in season on the day.
Sardinians eat a lot... If we had our time again we (or rather I) would have missed out il Secondo meat course. In the event, we asked for doggy bags for leftover porchetto (roast baby pork that you ought to order in advance).
Slightly off the main tourist area (just our kind of place), but currently covered in scaffolding, not that it mattered in December. Full of locals and probably best to book as loads of walk-ins were turned away on the Saturday evening we were there.
Service was excellent and we felt fully involved in what we were eating and drinking. Livio spoke perfect English. It was a perfect anniversary dinner and we'd go back again and again for all the dishes we missed out on if we were...
