Osteria Gioia e Gusto Cagliari — Restaurant in Cagliari

We have visited this Osteria July, 9th in 2025. It is specialized in Seafood. Reservation is highly recommended. Fast we got guided to our table. The ambiance is looking good. Every table has white table cloth. At once we got the Menu. We have ordered Tuna TARTARE (13 €) and Pasta with Seafood (17€). When asking the waitress what is containing in the Seafood she answered SEAFOOD.. 90% of it were Mussels and 5% Clams. Then we have found a few (not fresh) little prawns ( see separate picture) looking almost Black. They were looking unappetizing. The sauce itself was well prepared and of good taste. The Pasta was al dente. For the empty shell of the big Mussels I only got a small plate which wasn't removed fast so I needed to leave the Shell in the Pan. The presentation of the Tuna TARTARE wasn't impressive and the pieces were cut too big. The taste was average. Finally it took a long time to order the Bill. I wanted to pay and have reminded the Waitress but she hasn't shown to appear with a Card Reader. After 10 minutes of waiting I stood up and went to the Desk and have presented the Bill. I was able to pay with Visa-Card. Then I have asked to order a Taxi. We got told that they don't order it and we have received a phone number with the information that we can order it ourself outside. There was no question about guest satisfaction. There was no good bye. Only Locals were sitting in this Osteria. Fresh fish is charged with 7 € per 100 gram. One Scampi is offered at a price of 10 €. 100% do Not Recommended!!!

I hasten to tell you about this establishment!!! more negative than positive!!! I'll be brief - the Rib eye steak is impossible to eat (a big minus to the chef). They overcooked it 3 times, and nothing improved. If the chef doesn't know how to cook it, take it off the menu (don't mislead people). It was the worst steak in my life. The service is disgusting - we tried to take it from the a la carte, they refused us, they said that it was for an order for the whole table, and not for one person as stated in the menu. I tried to talk, in the end they ignored me. They didn't change the dirty dishes for a long time and didn't bring out the ready-made dishes. And when they brought them out, half of them were cold... The employees, to put it mildly, are not very friendly (except for the girl in glasses who spoke English). The men's toilet does not close. I had to sit at the table with dirty dishes, poor quality cutlery (my finger was hurt). My son started to feel sick. (He ate see food). Now about Pros!!! There are not many of them - I liked the French fries and fried seafood. As a result, the evening was ruined (at least we had a laugh). Tucked away in the heart of Cagliari, Osteria Gioia e Gusto offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere that perfectly complements its well-prepared, honest Sardinian fare. Among the standout dishes, the local fish was particularly impressive – juicy and tender on the inside with a beautifully crispy skin that highlighted the freshness of the catch.

The deep fried squid and vegetables were another highlight – light, crisp, and refreshingly not greasy, making it a must-try for anyone visiting. It’s a dish that strikes the right balance between indulgence and finesse.

The deep fried tuna balls were decent, though perhaps less memorable than the other offerings, and the dessert and house wine were pleasant, rounding out the meal without stealing the show.

Service was friendly, and the overall experience was relaxed and satisfying. The main downside was the ambiance — the lack of outdoor seating, bright indoor lighting, and barely cool air which made it a bit difficult to fully relax and enjoy the otherwise lovely meal. A few small changes in atmosphere could really elevate the overall dining experience.
