Trattoria "La Scarpetta" — Restaurant in Castel Gandolfo

What an AMAZING experience at Trattoria La Scarpetta!! ❤️ HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT! We had dinner at this place and honestly - It blew me away.

First off, the place has a cozy, welcoming vibe—seating inside and outside, and that amazing smell of fresh garlic and herbs in the air. But what really stood out was how beautiful the food looked! Every dish was like something out of a magazine. The food is so fresh and delicious, and the presentation of each dish is unbelievable!!!!

Igor, the Chef, is super talented and very friendly. He came out personally to say Hello, and asked how the food was. We received complementary cantucci toscani (sweet cookies) that you dip in wine 🍷 as compliments of the Chef ❤️

For dessert, we both had tiramisu and panna cotta, and it looked like a little art piece! Cream piped like clouds, espresso drizzle, and even a few tiny drops on top for that fancy finish. It was rich, balanced, and honestly just fun to eat!!

Overall, this place nails it! You can tell Chef Igor loves what he does. Definitely one of those “take a pic before you dig in” kinds of places.

Spinti dalle recensioni super positive, ho prenotato un tavolo per pranzo (ieri 2 giugno, festa della Repubblica). Eravamo in tre, abbiamo ordinato un tagliere della casa, una carbonara, una amatriciana ed una mezza manica al ragù. Volevamo ordinare anche la porchetta, ma alle 13:30 il titolare ci risponde che era già terminata, in un giorno di festa come quello, che la porchetta sia già terminata, ha davvero dell' incredibile! Abbiamo dovuto chiedere il pane ben 5 volte prima che ce lo portassero! Il tagliere x 2 si presenta con 3 fettine prosciutto crudo, 4 di salame, qualche fettina di formaggio, ed una ciotolina di marmellata di quelle del supermercato, davvero scandaloso per una trattoria dei Castelli! Passiamo ai primi: porzioni davvero ridicole, la carbonara e le mezze maniche al ragù erano discrete. Premetto che sul menù non sono specificati i formati di pasta con i quali preparano i primi piatti, ma tutto ci aspettavamo tranne che a mio marito fosse servita una fettuccina alla amatriciana! Tra l'altro nemmeno mantecata, pomodoro e guanciale buttati letteralmente nel piatto! Senza parole!. Poco dopo abbiamo visto passare ad un tavolo accanto al nostro, un tonnarello alla amatriciana, che comunque come formato di pasta non è proprio il top, ma di sicuro 100 volte meglio di una fettuccina! Mio marito a quel punto ha chiesto alla cameriera cosa avesse fatto di male per meritarsi invece una fettuccina e la cameriera imbarazzata non ha saputo rispondere! Quando sono entrata per pagare, ho chiesto al proprietario come mai fosse stata servita una fettuccina alla amatriciana, anziché un bucatino o eventualmente anche una mezza manica e lui mi ha risposto che loro i bucatini come formato di pasta non ce l'hanno proprio! Gli ho risposto che sul menù dovrebbero quanto meno riportare il formato di pasta che viene servito, perché almeno uno sa cosa sta ordinando! Comunque se state cercando una vera trattoria dove mangiare cucina tipica dei Castelli, mi dispiace ma non è sicuramente...

Nice place. The food is terrible though. The pasta was hardly edible and seemed to have been made with unsalted water. The baccala was clearly not washed before it was fried, therefore, it was way too salty. The portions were reasonably abundant. The glass of wine was definitely worth it. The waitresses constantly asked around for the table numbers. There are like 10 tables, can't you just...
