We were quite unsure to go there because of the very different reviews. But we thought we’ll give it a try. Well… this was quite a trap. To start: the waitress was very friendly and we felt very much welcomed. Everything came very quickly, actually a bit too quick. They say they have a very nice view on Etna, which is not really true but that’s fine.
About the food: unfortunately the food really wasn’t tasty at all. They tell you that’s it’s all homemade, Lasagne from the grandmother who helps them in the kitchen every day. I do have the feeling that this is a scam and actually not true. The Bruschetta is made in a mixer, more mashed than actual tomatoes and the bread is burned. The olives were quite old and soggy. The Lasagne was really bad I have to say. The meat inside was also more a mash, it felt like you eat a puree of meat. And there were peas inside, which I personally don’t like. The Spaghetti Carbonara tasted like plastic and old. The pizza was actually the best with the homemade bread. That actually tasted well! The tiramisu was very soggy.
In the end they told us three times to give them a nice review and again told us about the grandmother. I have the feeling this is why they have such good reviews. You actually leave with a remorse leaving a bad review. But I really can’t recommend...
Read moreWe have returned to this place 3 times during our stay and had our last dinner there. The food is home made with fresh ingredients, according to traditional Sicilian recipes. Home grown olives and bruschetta are absolutely to die for. The home made sausages was perhaps the highlight of our food tour of the whole Sicily, they were just better than anything that we have tried there, and this is considering that we are foodies. The atmosphere is like visiting some friends or distant family members. We have spent hours speaking with the owners who are absolutely lovely people with unique backgrounds. All that coupled with a breathtaking view of Etna.
So if you are reading this and want to try some real Sicilian food made with love, please go there and order bruschetta and home made sausages (everything else is also great, like mama Maria’s lasagne which has been made by her using the same traditional recipe every morning for the last...
Read moreLovely friendly welcome. The Pizza Divola with extra gorganzola was lovely. Very nice base/crust and plenty of topping. We shared 1/2 litre of house white and 2 beers and a coffee. For dessert there were 2 options which we took. Tiramisu and conollo. Both very nice. We were kindly given complimentary bruschetta and olives and almond wine. The olives were very good with a hint of chilli. EUR52 for all the above. Would've have a lovely view but unfortunately it was cloudy and raining at the time of visit. We did go back again and had the Lasagne this time. Served piping hot and bubbling. It was very good. Etna did peak out of the cloud this time so on a clear day it would be a great view point. Good prices for the area and quality of food served, lovely atmosphere. Would certainly...
