A treasure of a place in Castelmola. We started with a lazy day in Catania and left late for Taormina. Arriving to the stayion we saw Castelmolo perched on a small mountain and got transfers to take the harrowing bus ride up. We only had 30 minutes to experience by then and were recommended a popular bar, arrived there then walked out. We saw this place when we got off the bus in the Piazza and out of all the appeal of the town and its churches we returned to Antico Caffé. This place, the gentleness and joy of the staff, the desserts (pistachio cake and gelato (not enough time to order food), and the almond wine (we ordered one glass but they gave us another), mixed with the view, all cascaded together into the highlight of our day. They were marketing "Il Blandanino", their almond wine, which was created by Don Vincenzo Blandano, the first and historic restauranteur of the small village in 1907, and it was perfect with the desserts. While we were rushing to the bus, they even gave us small cups of granita to sample. The experience with them was short and extraordinary - highly recommended after a tour...

Waiter forbiden me to take menu to the new table, then never showed up for 15 minutes. No menu, no chance to order, I felt treaten like trash.
If you're s big group it'll probably gonna be okay. I saw them treat big tables totaly different.
Also, there is a GREAT place vis a vis, whith an amazing owner who cooks, serves, talk to you, and food is MOUTHWATERING. Go...
Read moreFrom the first look, you'd think this was a tourist trap as it is right next to the bus stop, but don't be fooled. Sure, there are some grouchy entitled tourists that expect service within 5 min who might leave when they don't, but they be gone soon enough. Whenever a bus arrives, this place has to work hard, but they are super friendly, have great food and the view is amazing. Sure, we had to wait a little for service, but that's totally as expected when busy and totally worth it. We had the vulcano and apollo sandwich, which were delicious and I'd recommend...
