We first noticed PierdeCat on arrival at the square St Antonio and noted the quirky feel, after and hour or so walking around the castle we decided to pop in maybe for a coffee!…… What a mistake it would have been to walk past!….. Pier didn’t take long to work his magical personality and we were soon very comfortable taking about what was on the menu and what was available!….. I decided on the Lasagne and Chrissy went for a Panini!….. During the meal he was preparing a Sicilian Goulash for tomorrow and we were noting what was going in the pot and commenting how good it was going to be!…… After a Tiramisu and an Almond wine we decided to call it a day, we felt the need to return if only to sample the Goulash and suffice to say we actually returned again so in a week we actually visited three times which only goes to show the draw of this place!….. I intended to try the Arancini but the Goulash was so tempting that I decided against!…… The food, music, and enthusiasm of Pier has to be experienced to be...
Read moreWe stayed in Castelmola for one week and ended up visiting Pier every morning. The service was especially wholesome. The bistro is completely run by Pier, so whenever you go there, you'll meet a friendly and heartwarming person that does remember you.

Also the view is great and since it is located on the main piazza, you can perfectly sit here waiting for the tourist or public bus. Order a drink, pay early and sit back and relax.
Thanks again Pier, for the wonderful week and...
Read moreIf someone deserved 6 stars for service, it would be Pier! This (essentially) one man show of a restaurant is a treat you cannot miss! He joyously greets all of his customers and passionately endorses all of his culinary creations. For lunch, we had the lasagna, the arancini, and a sandwich. Everything was delicious! His little shop sits just outside the square with a beautiful view over Taormina/Castelmole. His prices were extremely reasonable, especially for the quality.
Pier is one-of-a-kind. He invited us in to see his kitchen and shared his secrets to making the best arancini. He provided us samples of (the best) local almond wine and shared his story of becoming a chef. He shared his aspirations with us as well. Our lunch with Pier is one we will...
