Pizzeria Deposito Bagagli — Restaurant in Catania

We visited this pizzeria early, just after opening up at 19:00, and were the first to sit down. It quickly filled up, and by 20:00 most of the outdoor tables were occupied, though inside there were fewer people. The interior is very nice, with warm lighting, music playing, and a modern but cozy atmosphere, slightly retro with some travel-themed decorations like suitcases on the ceiling and in the bathroom. The staff was friendly and attentive.

The menu has many positions some of which are quite experimental. It also clearly indicated which items could be frozen, which was helpful. For starters we ordered a fried basket with seasoned potatoes and onion rings, which came with mayonnaise and ketchup. The portion was generous and the price reasonable at 5 euros. Our main pizzas arrived very quickly, before we finished the starter.

We had La Crudaiola and Siciliana 2.0. The first one had a lot of ingredients, including diced tomatoes and salted ricotta, and despite that it was very stable, the ingredients weren’t falling off easily and the slices could be easily eaten with hands. Although it was a bit too salty.

The Siciliana 2.0 included fish and stracciatella with a yellow tomato sauce. It was tasty, but because the pizza was thin and had so many wet ingredients, it was difficult to eat both with hands or cutlery without it falling apart. The overall taste was good, but the texture made it a bit messy.

Overall the food was enjoyable, portions generous, and prices fair. We couldn’t finish it all and the waitress gave us takeout box, which is very convenient and considerate. I walked and walked around central Catania and finally settled on this place for a pizza marinara. I got seated outside on a cool evening, ordered my pizza, and a salad. The pizza when it came was huge, but super thin. While it was still hot, it was amazingly tasty. But, it did not stay hot for long. It was still pretty tasty even after it had cooled off though. I would say that this pizza is enough for one person, but better shared by two or more because it cools off so fast.

The salad (prelibata) was red and green lettuce with avocado, heart of palm, and artichoke, with a little bit of lemon and olive oil. Some really tasty herbed bread on the side. The lettuce leaves were huge and I hd to cut them with a knife in the bowl, which was awkward. I asked for some vinegar, as it needed help. I don't recommend that salad.

Pizze buone, ben cotte e saporite ma non è tutto positivo.. infatti, mentre i ragazzi che lavorano lì sono gentili e cortesi il proprietario non ci sa proprio fare con i clienti, scortese e maleducato e in più con vari tavoli vuoti si mette a fare problemi se aspettiamo seduti al tavolo due persone che sarebbero arrivate da li a pochi minuti oltretutto avendolo anche noi precisato al momento di arrivare. Inoltre le pizze sono arrivate poco dopo gli antipasti, ok la velocità ma si dovrebbe lasciare un po'di tempo. Forse da riprovare... dico forse perché sinceramente ci sono altre pizzerie buone tanto quanto e anche di più dove si viene accolti bene e il servizio è ben coordinato.

Modifica(25/10/19) doverosa a seguito della maleducata risposta ricevuta qui dal proprietario, e d'altronde non fa altro che confermare quanto scritto da me in precedenza.. primo il fatto che venga mi venga dato del tu qui, ma da dove! Seconda cosa, ha totalmente riferito a me un episodio successo evidentemente con altri clienti (io sono un uomo e lei si riferisce ad una donna, tra l'altro lascio stare come lei si rivolge alla sua clientela perché è sotto gli occhi di tutti), noi eravamo 7 ed avevamo pure chiamato per prenotare alle 20:30 e alle 20:30 eravamo lì 6 su 7! Avete detto solamente una cosa giusta nel citare Cannavacciuolo (il quale verrebbe a darvi una delle sue famose scoppole per come lavorate e per esservi definiti amici suoi) pizzerie migliori di voi ce ne sono tante a Catania ed educate mooooolte di più...ADIOS!

Aggiorno (14/11/19) la recensione dato che è stata cancellata la maleducata risposta del proprietario, alla quale avevo risposto modificando (ed io dato che ho recensito onestamente la mia esperienza e non avendo nulla da nascondere non cancello nulla a differenza di qualcun altro..ci siamo capiti) comunque almeno una cosa sensata l'avete fatta! Certo scusarsi non sarebbe stato male, ma spero sia servito e abbiate capito.. o quanto meno ci voglio credere.
