Mooddika — Restaurant in Catania

I really can't understand how this place got many good reviews. We went there relying on those as you would do in a place you are not familiar with but were completely disappointed. First of all, you have to download the menu on your mobile. It's good to have this option but as the only way to access the menu I don't like the idea. Our daughter wasn't too hungry so she ordered Bruschetta only which was supposed to be with guacamole, chives and salmon. Tomatoes were not mentioned on the menu but, obviously, you would expect them when having Bruschetta. She received three slices of bread with a whitish cream and salmon. No tomatoes, no sign of avocado, no chives. The first waiter we asked about this went to fetch another waiter who we told that this is not what we expected. He told us this is how their chef makes guacamole but we insisted it's not right, because guacamole is a set dish. If made different they should mention this on the menu. He went to fetch another waiter who I had to discuss this with again. My daughter was so fed up by this that she didn't order anything else. Best decision she could have made! I had the grilled seafood on salad - the swordfish was only luke warm and didn't taste of much, the cuttlefish tasted like soap and was not edible, the octopus was okay but not really good. I didn't eat half of what I had on my plate although I had been hungry. Nevertheless, I felt sick for the rest of the evening after what I had. My husband had a pasta dish which was alright to fill him but not worth having again. There are better places to eat in Catania. This restaurant does nothing to keep up the good reputation of...

I don’t ever write bad reviews but this place deserved it. Food was ok, but was the most expensive food that we have had so far in our trip and have been to some of the nicest restaurants in the nicest cities.

I write this review not because of the food or even the prices but because of the TERRIBLE service. We were initially welcomed by a hospitable man when we arrived to make the booking early in the evening.

However later once we arrived, we were greeted by another man. This man took our order once we arrived, and looked as if he was supposed to “look after” us, instead he was so terribly rude and disrespectful, it has completely ruined all our nights.

We came here because it was my brothers birthday, we were ready to have a good night and celebrate but we left with a bitter experience solely because of this man and his disingenuous attitude.

One instance is when my younger brother merely asked this same man where the toilets were, my brother was initially ignored - my brother then asked again and then without even looking back at my brother, this man pointed angrily saying something under his breath.

This man wore a cream vest over his black top on this particular night and has a grey hair patch....

Awful service; „good“ dishes and „nice“ ambience… I had to wait 1.5 hours for the starter to arrive because neither the waiter nor the hostess were able to put my order into the system. Although, they saw me sitting here like someone who’s waiting for the bus, they didn’t even bother to check on my order.

There’s no wine menu. They just get you some wine, they think you might like. It’s 30 degrees hot outside temperature and they don’t even ask you for some water.

Once they finally served the dishes they didn’t even check on cutlery. The pasta was not properly cooked and went cold while waiting for some cutlery.

I had to request everything myself, because nobody was capable. From the outside it seems to be a fancy place. However, I was running a small restaurant myself for a while and was absolutely not amused about the...
