Best restaurant on the boardwalk Given that I've been to all but maybe two or three restaurants on the boardwalk in my short time in this city, I would say that I'm pretty well-versed at this point as to what's good and what's not around here. This is the only restaurant that I would recommend to people, that is on the boardwalk. There are many others, but none have all the right "ingredients" if you will, that make up a good establishment. First of all, the service is optimal, the food delicious and the view spectacular.

The prices are very reasonable, and you will find that they are fairly flexible with catering to any dietary needs you may have.

I've been here twice and both times the food was delicious and the staff very friendly.

The only complaint I would make, is that the second time I was there, a customer at the table next to us had a screaming child. The manager seemed to be friends with this patron and was put out when I complained about the noise. The waiter never asked the woman to escort her child out of the restaurant as he was disturbing other PAYING guests. It's rude and takes away the enjoyment of dining out to hear a toddler screaming. Quando il fumo di sigaretta (e l’ignoranza) rovinano una serata perfetta

Siamo stati ieri, sabato 5 luglio, a cena da CapraSecca Al Mare in sei persone, più la nostra bambina di appena 2 mesi e mezzo. Nulla da dire sulla qualità del cibo: piatti davvero eccellenti, ben presentati e gustosi. Anche il personale si è dimostrato gentile e attento, e il contesto all’aperto è stato inizialmente molto piacevole.

Purtroppo, però, la nostra esperienza è stata fortemente condizionata da un episodio spiacevole. Poco dopo esserci seduti, i clienti del tavolo accanto hanno iniziato ad accendersi sigarette in rapida successione. Dopo la terza sigaretta in pochi minuti, ho fatto presente con estrema gentilezza che avevamo una neonata con noi e che mia moglie stava allattando, chiedendo se fosse possibile evitare di fumare. L’uomo ha inizialmente acconsentito, ma dopo altri cinque minuti si è acceso un’altra sigaretta, con il fumo che arrivava costantemente verso il nostro tavolo.

Quando abbiamo nuovamente fatto notare la cosa, una giovane donna del loro gruppo si è alzata ed è venuta al nostro tavolo con un tono decisamente poco educato, rivendicando il diritto di fumare “perché eravamo all’aperto”, aggiungendo che il proprietario glielo aveva confermato. Ha concluso il tutto con una frase fuori luogo: “Tutte siamo state mamme!” — come se questo potesse giustificare la mancanza di rispetto verso una madre che sta allattando una neonata.

Non abbiamo voluto coinvolgere direttamente il personale del ristorante perché eravamo ospiti di amici e non volevamo creare una situazione ancora più scomoda. Ma a quel punto, per evitare ulteriori discussioni con persone evidentemente ignoranti e maleducate, abbiamo scelto di alzarci e andare via prima del dolce.

Crediamo sinceramente che in un ristorante di questo livello, la gestione degli spazi all’aperto debba essere più attenta. Quando i tavoli sono molto vicini tra loro, non è accettabile permettere che si fumi liberamente, soprattutto in presenza di bambini piccoli o clienti che stanno cenando. In molte città italiane sono già in vigore regolamenti che vietano il fumo in situazioni simili. Sarebbe auspicabile che anche CapraSecca Al Mare valutasse l’introduzione di una zona fumatori separata, o che almeno intervenisse in difesa del buon senso e del rispetto reciproco.

Peccato davvero, perché la cucina merita e il ristorante ha potenzialità. Ma l’educazione non dovrebbe mai essere lasciata al caso. La qualità di una cena dipende anche dalla serenità con cui si...
