Taverna Del Porto — Restaurant in Civitavecchia

Full disclosure that this is not going to be a review of the restaurant since I didn't get to eat there despite having a reservation.

Let me explain. Having heard some good things about this restaurant, I dropped by at 6:30 PM today to ask if they were open yet. Typical of restaurants in Italy, they were not. I asked when - she said 7:30 PM and I asked if I needed a reservation. She said "yes" and I said "OK... table for 1". She laughed and said that should be no problem.

Returned at 7:35 PM to an empty restaurant. I asked for my table and she politely apologized that she had made a mistake and they were all booked up for the night. OK... can I get some take-out since there are no guests in the restaurant and the cook was just sitting outside smoking and not doing anything. No... he is not ready to cook.

Granted... she was nice and was polite in apologizing. But that's a big mistake in taking my reservation and not honoring it. And not even accommodating me on some take-out when no one's doing anything is just not right. So... make a reservation at this restaurant and pray they keep it. Let me know how...

We had the most delightful evening at Taverna Del Porto. We stopped by before they open and Fabrizio offered us drinks which we thoroughly enjoyed. After looking at the daily menu offerings we made a reservation for supper and returned for a delicious meal. Lala, our server, who was so friendly and attentive, gave us great service. The pasta and seafood dishes we ordered were delicious and the serving size barely left us room for the yummy cannoli for desert. We will definitely be back before our next cruise from...

Excellent place. Good attention, food, and service. I was with my family and we decided to eat outside to enjoy the view of the city.
