Ristorante Il Violino — Restaurant in Cremona

We booked and we specifically asked for a table outside. The person on the phone told me the weather won't be perfect, but they assured me they will serve us outside.

When we arrived, the restaurant was empty, and we said we booked a table outside. They told us they won't be serving us outside (same person I spoke to on the phone), and when I said I was told over the phone they would, he shrugged his shoulders, defiantly smiled and asked if I want to cancel my reservation.

I left and won't be trying to come back, this was one of the worst experiences I had in a restaurant.

I find these comments to be quite surprising since we were not even customers. We attempted to be, but were refused service on the terrace.

For avoidance of doubt, the climate was so "merciless" that we were easily able to find a terrace that was more than happy to serve us dinner outside. Given that there are much friendlier options available in town, places that actually care about customers and creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere, I'd recommend seeking them out rather than...

The food is OK-to-not-so-good. This place wants to be fancy at the expense of taste, and is specifically geared towards the tourist with money, but no discernment. We were four adults and had a variety of dishes and two bottles of wine. Some of the dishes passed muster. Most did not. A good example is the lamb w pickled onions. The lamb neither tasted nor looked like lamb (or lamb kabob, or lamb chop, or lamb shoulder, or anything to do with lamb). It was a creamy mess in the shape of a shoe sole with onions on top. We also asked that the sommelier pair the two bottles … the wine and the pairing were disappointing: bland-to-acidic, the type of stuff you’d expect to get in a bistro if you tell the waiter, ‘give me a glass or red’.
