Ristorante BISTROT AL 5 — Restaurant in Fiesole

My mom and I were on a dream Italian vacation and were staying in a 5 star villa in Florence. We ventured out on a rainy day to Fiesole to have lunch to see the archeological site. Little did we know that when our hotel sent us in a cab to Fiesole, that we would have little to no chance of getting back due to the rain. Our hotel left us stranded and was useless in helping us get back.

We had had lunch earlier at Bistrot Caffe' and in our moment of panic, we returned to the restaurant to see if they could help us. Not only did our waiter (whose name we forgot) help us try to get a cab in Italian, but when no cabs would pick us up, he turned to the manager/owner and his lunch guest and asked if either could personally take us back to our hotel. Without hesitation, Silvia Fianni OUR ANGEL, offered to drive us back to our hotel. When we tried to pay her and the waiter for their help, they refused and just wanted us to be safe.

Second visit, equally wonderful. Set in Fiesole centre with tables outside, a very nice experience. Food was very good and just like the pictures shown on other posts, with ingredients locally sourced right down to the honey. Stuffed peppers were not what we expected and a pleasant surprise with tastes of Thailand. Cold tomato soup again a surprise, it's shrimp with diced fruits in a little tomato juice, very refreshing. Pork medallions soft and gently cooked with a nice honey sauce was delicate flavours. Bit disappointed with the steak not peppery as advertised, but cooked nice wirh a good char, potatoes were great. The agnolotti was a beautiful, yellow tomato sauce and stuffed with tuscan sausage, a must. The most unexpected carrot cake, a delight. Staff very nice, very helpful, seats a bit uncomfortable, on 2nd visit enjoyed comfy...

░▒▓█▀▄▀▄▀▄1ST CLASS▀▄▀▄▀▄█▓▒░ Sbalorditi a dir poco dalla gentilezza, cordialità e bontà d'eccellenza. Ahimè causa ritardo aereo la domenica sera siamo arrivati tardi a Fiesole. Tra i vari posti dove cenare, l'odore ci ha subìto catturati appena passati davanti al locale. Ma essendo domenica sera e già le 21.20 era già troppo tardi per sederci. Invece siamo stati accolti con grande gentilezza e disponibilità, spiegandoci che potevamo cenare scegliendo o solo un primo o solo un secondo. Data la disponibilità nell'averci fatto accomodare, abbiamo deciso di optare per due secondi: Filetto di grigio su fondo al miele accompagnato con cetrioli, mele ed agresto. Un preludio di bontà data da accostamenti divini al palato, per nulla salato, ma anzi un equilibrio perfetto tra agro e dolce . Tagliata di bovino grass- fed fondo bruno al pepe di Timut: che dire... cottura impeccabile, che solo pochi intenditori possono apprezzare, una reazione di Maillard perfetta, si scioglieva in bocca, oltre che nella semplicità del piatto si è potuto gustare appieno il sapore del taglio. Per concludere mi hanno incuriosito 2 dessert: Torta di carote con marmellata di datterino rosso, fava tonka, e crema di formaggio. Non saprei come esprimere al meglio l'accostamento di dolce e salato in questo piatto. Un tripudio per le papille gustative! E da bravi siculi non potevamo assaggiare la Mousse di ricotta allo zafferano: servite su un letto di mandorle tostate croccanti e polline fresco... Una bontà eccezionale! Cosa aggiungere ? Ah si ! Per poter gustare al meglio le pietanze abbiamo chiesto un accostamento anche di vino e devo dire , che è stato assolutamente ad hoc! Quindi abbiamo potuto raggiungere anche un percorso enogastronomico davvero apprezzato. Personale squisito Posto chic e romantico Posto tranquillo e per pochi intenditori !
