Gori Ramen — Restaurant in Florence

I was hoping for a comforting bowl of authentic ramen. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of expectations.

First, the ramen broth lacked the depth and authenticity typically associated with Japanese ramen. It tasted more like a generic salty soup, and it felt as though the flavors weren’t properly balanced or developed. Adding to the disappointment, the noodles weren’t the traditional ramen noodles you’d expect — they had a strange texture and didn’t complement the broth well. It also seemed like the restaurant used the same broth across all menu items, with only the toppings varying, which made the dishes feel repetitive.

The overall ambiance of the restaurant left much to be desired. The décor felt tacky and seemed to lean into stereotypes that could perpetuate a biased, reductive view of Asian culture. It didn’t create the welcoming or authentic atmosphere one might hope for in a ramen shop.

Service was another letdown. It took about 20–30 minutes for the ramen to arrive, which felt unusually long given that ramen is known for being a quick meal. For food that didn’t deliver on taste, the wait made the experience even worse.

Overall, this ramen spot missed the mark on nearly every front. From the inauthentic flavors and poor execution to the off-putting atmosphere, it’s hard to recommend this place to anyone seeking good ramen.
