We were looking for Italian food on a Friday night and stumbled across this empty restaurant which should have raised a red flag. We passed Il Latino but should have eaten there.
When I say empty l, I mean no one in there at 8 pm. We ordered a glass of wine which was fine nothing out of the ordinary. Then the weird stuff happens. The 90’s music was so loud we were about to leave before he turned it down. We ordered an appetizer for two, some comes on paper plates which makes sense whey there are paper cups for water, but I get a wine glass for wine and real silver ware. We then ordered dinner that comes out on paper plates. I paid $35 a person for food that is heated in a microwave and served on a paper plate.
This guy is clueless on how to run a restaurant or even his idea of a Bistro which he will say his is. His location is good and all the other restaurants are full. Maybe you should reconsider your trade.
Remodel, change your menu, add more pasta, put a simple kitchen in, get rid of the stupid menu items.
My recommendation, don’t go here. More authentic Italian places, pasta and pizza in and around cheaper. This guy will shame anyone who...
Read moreThis is the reason, why I give “only” 4 Stars if I really like a place: There has to be one star left for those truly memorable places that stay on your mind for good. To me, the Nerocarbone is one of them. I`m deeply in love with it and can only confirm the other ratings. We came by the Nerocarbone when we left the main street to find some place for lunch. Seeing the three tiny tables outside, the cozy inside and the display of cheese and cold meats, we already liked the place a lot. When we tasted the truffle honey along with the delicious pecorinos, salamis and hams, the two of us had a real explosion of taste we never had before. Of course, this was accompanied by a very tasty wine that is produced by a friend of the two young owners. They even organized an earlier opening for us the very next day so we could pick up the two big jars of truffle honey that was delivered over night before we had to leave Florenz. If only for the Nerocarbone, I will be coming back to Florence. Go there and let yourself indulge by the wonderful dishes and wines alongside the super friendly and personal service, you...
Read moreIt is a nice place, but not for the price, at least for lunch. The venue is cozy and intimate, and it seems like it's a one-man show, where the owner does everything. He's really welcoming and seems to be having fun. However, everything is served in a cardboard/paper plate which simply doesn't look professional. We didn't want to judge the food solely by it, but if there's no dishwasher, you bet there's no kitchen. Everything was reheated. It wasn't bad at all, it was good, my truffle pasta was a bit oily, but that's normal when you reheat sauces. Even if the owner says the pasta is prepared by the "best restaurants in Florence", it is still just microwave pasta, which is unacceptable for the price, even in a bistro. I've paid the same in fancy-ish trattorias next to the cathedral. Maybe it's different if you're looking for wine and meat boards, since those are freshly cut by the owner. But if you're looking for pasta, the price is simply not worth it. If it was cheaper, it'd be a great place. Again, the owner is very nice and quick and it really seems like he's...
